Has he ever considered working for himself?

Someone close to me does and the work is steady. Might sound daft, but the majority of work at the moment is improving homes rather than move.

I have suggested that several times but he seems a little shy and reluctant to do it, now however I am considering putting my foot down and insisting he get his name out there. You have to be cruel to be kind sometimes and this is one of those times I think

you could always get one of those hot meal tubs they do them in dunelm and wilkinsons etc theyre like short fat stumpy flasks really they keep your meal hot for they say 8 hours so easily nice and warm for a lunch break. why not pop something in one in the morning ready for lunch.

    Thanks Judderman and Angie,

It really is crap for us both, we're lucky in that I have a decently paid job and I also have enough in the bank to pay the bills for a couple of months due a small windfall recently, without that we would be screwed.

I will have a good look at the website and work out a tasty cheap menu for next week. I love to batch cook and we adore pasta so thats good.

We WILL get through this I know, it's just the first few days that are hardest.

Liz3yy there are quite a few threads on the Old Style board about the cheapest meals possible - and a lot of those people feed families too - have a look. And especially since EE now lets you eat pretty much anymeal going instead of substituting with Quorn etc. If you have a choice of supermarkets you can get to then sign up for their newsletters - you get them once a week or so and you can see whats on offer!

Thanks again for the ideas, I'll have a wander over to the old style board soon and have a nose.

I'll have to give up things like mullerlights and have value yoghurts instead, I like the taste of them but they have syns, We already try and hit tesco as late as possible on a Sunday to get stuff reduced, now I'll have to be even more creative, should be quite a challenge but a tasty one. Wish me luck!

Thankyou :) It's actually a jar, but I'm guessing it'd be about similar syns. I'll syn it at about 5 syns because I'll only use max a quarter.

Hard to say about the rice - depends how its cooked and what else is in it. Nando's is on the website but can't find any products under it! Is the frozen yoghurt at Nando's too?

    Hi

Really sorry to hear your news. Just a couple of suggestions.

Tesco Ratatouille (tinned) - 0 syns over pasta with your b 1 or 2 choices.(cheese)

Chickpea curry (tinned chick peas are dead cheap and they are so good for you)

    Lentil Dahl

Egg and SW Chips & Beans

Omlettes (sp) and SW wedges sprinkled with garlic and herbs (dried)

Soya Mince (still relatively cheap) made up into bolognese/chillis/cottage pie.
(This may take some getting used to - I like it cos its cheap but some people find it disgusting)

You may be able to make your own yogurt - but not syn free. I make a mean greek yogurt and it works out at 3 syns a pot. Worth it though if you cannot afford chocolate, wine etc.

All available at Tesco! Seriously good luck to you and your partner. X
