I'm going to try some of the Lemon terrine mousse from the SW mag I put in the fridge last night. A quarter of it is .5 of a syn, I won't be able to eat that much though! Hopefully it has set.

I'll let you know how it is.

Do you think I could do the mixing part in a smoothy maker as I dont have a blender - must make a point of going to argos this weekend!

I think you could zavarony - it isn't actually chopping anything or processing anything, just really mixing it all up really, really thoroughly. I reckon it would work with an electric whisk as well.

    Hi all,

I've had a rotten day and need a hug, my boyfriend has been laid off! we're going to struggle now to get the bills paid and I'm worried about being able to follow SW properly and even attending class each week, sigh.

I dont know what kind of day food wise I'm having really as again we forgot to get the beef mince out of the freezer so wont be having the beef wraps as we planned.

    Breakfast -
Eggs, mushrooms and bacon fried in Frylight

Lunch - hifi bar, mullerlight and home made veggie soup with a little potato chucked in

Dinner ????? If I have just SW chips would my day still be EE?

    I need help!

Sorry to hear your news liz3yy :( Yes still a EE day, though do try and have beans or something with them to keep your metabolism going?
Hugs to you and yours. My OH keeps telling me he's ok, but he's in construction so who knows

Thanks Skint_Catt, this is the second time since last summer he has lost his job and he seems so down and fed up, I wish I could say something to make it all better but I cant! His trade is carpentry which isnt exactly in huge demand at the moment.

Luckily I have a steady job in a pretty safe industry, by that I mean our customers are huge councils that spend millions. I'm still nervous about the future though.

Back to SW, thanks I will have some beans I think and maybe some more mushrooms if we have them in. I'll have to think of ways to keep the food bills as low as possible without giving up the principals of SW as I really enjoy it.

    Any tips for cheap meals????!

Has he ever considered working for himself?

Someone close to me does and the work is steady. Might sound daft, but the majority of work at the moment is improving homes rather than move.

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying
  • Oh Lizzy - I am sorry for your news - it doesn't seem fair for anyone to be losing their jobs, but twice within 12 months really is bad.

You sound like you are already thinking about tightening your belts (moneywise AND weight wise!), but there is no reason why you cannot still do really well with SW. If you have access to the website, there is an article on budget meals, the student meal planner is also very cost concious as is the family menu. They are all worth a look.

Slimming world actually lends itself very nicely to saving money -the more you are willing to plan, the more you can save - you are cooking from scratch, filling foods (like pasta, potatoes, rice etc) are all free on the plan - batch cooking and freezing ahead are good for watching the pennies. I would certainly recommend a wander over to the oldstyle boards if you don't already.

All of this doesn't help the fact that you are both feeling down right now, remember we are all here for you, and yes, a tin of beans (and even a frylighted egg for the best meal ever - egg chips and beans) would keep you on track for a good loss....

    take care <<hugs>>

I'm a bit bored with casseroles and stuff but I've just bought (kinda by accident) the most amount of chicken you have ever seen. How many syns in smart price sweet and sour sauce, anyone?:j
