What makes this player so great? The Rio range is made by Denon which is considered by audiophiles to be the best around...yes better than bose even. iPoop and this thing...who does the sound processing for them? I don't know but can't imagine anyone special.0

There's a lot more to MP3 players than sound quality (such as size, weight, battery life and ease of navigation), and hardly any variation between them anyway, because:
1) It's very hard to design the circuitry to sound bad;
2) The artifacts inherent in the compression system represent a quality compromise which is present in all players and is likely to swamp minuscule differences in the rest of the circuitry.
Bose? *rolls eyes* :rolleyes:
Just look at what you get for the price: this is very good value, and that is why people are going for it.
lazymoezy: the reason why you are going for it is the same reason why it is not making Staples any profit: the price. If it were profitable then everyone would sell it at this sort of figure. Of course you're going to sell a lot of things if you discount them to the extent that you're making a loss on them!Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
Can anyone suggest where to buy good headphones for this Zen?

The thread is'nt about which is technically superior. It's about a great buy. This was a well respected MP3 Player at full price. At almost half price it's a bargain.0 -

Basically cheap mp3 playas have crap SNR ratings. Experience has proven this too...and it's noticeable0 -
These sony ones from Amazon are amazing. You have to get used to how they sit in the ear, but they cut out lots of outside sound and are really comfortable. (I find that most in-ear phones hurt after 10 mins or so, especially iPod ones) You can also get them in white: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008XYJL/qid=1137935940/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/202-5103581-4239818sdhar39 wrote:Can anyone suggest where to buy good headphones for this Zen?

Just coz staples are dishing them out doesnt mean its a bad mp3. I dont want nothing super, i only wanna spend £100 max so this creative zen is a sup deal, 20GB memory is another plus. i dont even need that much but about 10GB will do i can even find a good 2GB for under £100.
I reckon the Zen is a top buy but looks like there is none left...i know there are loads out there that are way better but price,weight, looks,battery life and memory size doesnt meet my needs.0 -

Bad signal to noise ratio? Ever found one with less than 90dB or so? Impossible to hear the background noise unless you are listening in complete silence.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
