I admit I have liked the odd drop now and again but when it is not there you get to spend quality time with the family and our shift rota makes us feel that we are part time workers.
It is true that we have been able to achieve very high earnings in the past and when the dust settles it will be required once more and hopefully everyone will learn from this period of time.
Significant numbers of dockworkers have obtained mortgages of 4 or 5 or 6 times earnings using not their basic salary but basic plus every conceivable bit of overtime they could earn in a year and they were encouraged during the boom years to do this by lenders. Trust me on this one, I KNOW what I'm talking about.
Are you one of those Puggles? It would explain a lot.0 -

Let me guess - that's a yes then.
My instincts tell me there is little point discussing this further, probably wasn't beyond about page 3 but at least I tried.
I'm off to have some 5ex now, you might benefit from a bit yourself. Nighty night.0 -

Don't do Boxing days or any overtime, gone into semi retirement. Have you got to work it with no extra pay as per usual ?0 -

Lifting a container off a ship is classed as one move, likewise lifting a container back on a ship is classed as one move.
They are called Ships because you can load a boat onto a Ship but not vice versa.
We call it a PORT because we handle all types of vessels from general cargo, roll on roll off, used to have passenger services and of course container ships.
The original Dock Basin where the company started from used to be unloaded manually and could range from loose bulk cargo to just about anything.
Over the years we have moved almost every type of vehicle.
If you are really interested I will return later if you have more questions.
But if you work for a shipping line we call them vessels. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
