Again, I'm not a bad mum, BUT I used to let my lo cry....I knew she was clean, dry, fed, burped, warm.......and she cried for about an hour, then fell asleep.....about three weeks of that and she slept through the night, 12-7.
Might be something to consider. Although, tbh, I found it very hard to just listen to her cry.....but in hindsight I'm glad I persevered(sp?)
Me too tiny ....and it worked! :jEven at that age they soon know when to 'grizzle' for love, but for their own sakes and ours routines need to be established asap. ooooh we do sound wicked, but it makes for wonderful nights and days to cherish!!!!
Give it a try Pips Mum and glad you're feeling a bit better.

I did leave mine to cry at bed time but not this early, cant remember when with dd1 but with dd2 we tried at about 2 weeks and i just felt to bad, she was too little, gave it till about 6-8 weeks and then did it!
She had colic and was really bad early evening and just cried lots it was hard, but she was doing it because of the pain of the colic. He will grow out of the colicy stage soon bless him. The drops etc do help and so did wrapping dd up, but the other thing that helped was a dummy....i really didnt want to give her one but tried and it did help settle her a little.....
Hope he didnt keep you up all night, and im sure this was your oh first day back in work so i hope it all goes ok and your mum can pop over.

We've been so lucky with our DD - she's been sleeping right through the night since she was about 6 or 7 weeks old, except for the odd occasion when she wakes up (like last night ). We put her in her cot about 9pm and she'll go to sleep on her own within about 15 minutes. The crying only lasted a couple of nights (my mum and dad tell me I was a horror for this!) so we're really grateful!

Well a better night was had by all last night!!
Gave him a bath, a little massage with Olive oil (yes I know it sounds like we are going to cook him but its what midwife recommended for his dry skin!!) gave him his milk from a special anti colic bottle after giving him Infacol (hes not keen on flavour, hilarious facial reactions!!), had a little cuddle till he was snoozy then put him down and.......... silence, blissful!!! He woke twice, second time didnt really want to settle and I knew alarm was going off in half hour so he came into mum and dads big bed for a little snoozy cuddle, he was nice and safe all propped up and protected with cushions.
Registered him as Aidan I am afraid Hampster, his nickname will ALWAYS be Pip though. Went and opened an account for him and managed to get 8% interest for first year thanks to Martin:money: Hope to teach him to be better than his mum and dad with cash!!
OH went to work and phoned almost evry 2 hours as he missed him!! Mum came to help me out but actually we were fine. Health visitor came and weighed him 10lbs 3oz!!! He has put on 1lb in 2 weeks!!!

:jI've only blooming got my name on it :j0 -
Hi pipsmum have been following your progress, feel for you at the mo because first few weeks are so hard , you can never be prepared and even when youv'e had children you forget how hard it is.
just remember It will get better, tough at the mo but try and stay positive.
Rest and sleep if poss as much as you can in the day, not the same as a good nights sleep but it keeps you going.
If someone offers help take it and rest, dont worry about the house looking abit messy everyone understands , no one expects you to be supermum, and dont try to be it.
If Aiden is in discomfort with Colic , he wont settle , so no point leaving him to cry, you will get stressed and upset especially if tired.
finally well done in addressing your financial situation, doing something positive and asking for help/advice.
sending my best wishes .
(sorry I expect you know all the above anyway, just wanted to give you my support)0 -
Hi!:hello:
Yes I think it has just dawned on me that I cannot be supermum as much as I would like to be. I am now pottering round a bit more as scar is much less painful, house is still a bit of a tip but at least Pip is fed, watered and loved!!
His colic is still there but Infacol and a cuddle seems to be helping.
Mum has taken this week off to help me out, which is nice of her.:A
Ive listed 2 things on Ebay, carried on doing my daily scratches and surveys. Managaed to get the months shop for £64 in Aldi which I was pleased about, it really does help doing the menu plans. Bit of a tedious job to think and write them all out but worth it in the end.
Filled in and posted the form to claim child benefit for him today, going to pay it into my "I dont want to go back to work yet" fund as I figured the child benefit is to benefit him and having his mummy at home for longer would benefit him!!:rotfl:Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T
