  • yep grobags are the biz. Dont forget, wipes are no good for the first few months only use cotton wool, as even the mildest wipes are too harsh for a new born's skin. When our son was in special care, the nurses told us of a few babies coming in with burns from wetwipes!

If you go for the cotton nappies, try to get a sample bag first. We tried it with our son, but they irritated his skin too much.

The blender tip is a great one; also we found that if you blend too much (purpously) sometimes, they freeze fine, then if someone else babysits, these meals are soon de-frosted and the babysitter doesn't need to mess around.

Morrisons value fromage-frais when he/she is old enough to have them are just as nice as brand and a lot cheaper too!

On the clothes front, if people ask you what you want them to buy, ask somefor 6month+ clothes, some for 1yr, as someone said its inevitable that you'll be given a lot of clothes that they'll soon grow out of. Espec. if they are already big when they are born!

All the best with the Birth!
  • oh !!!!!!, seems I didn't realise this thread was really long and my post is unintentially out of date thinking the baby hadn't been born yet. !!!!!! !!!!!! !!!!!! lol sorry!!
  • Hiya pipsmum, the amount he is having milk wise is fine, like mummy said they have a growth spurt around 10 days. Breast milk is also digested easier and quicker than the bottle milk. It is his way of upping your milk supply ready for when he needs more, they do this before/during a growth spurt so they dont go hungary. I would stay away from the hungary baby milk for now as his digestive system wont be up to it yet and it may hamper your milk supply as it is digested much slower.

If you are feeling yucky i would watch out for any infections (urine, in your wound etc) as this may be the culprit. Are you still being visited at home by the health visitor/midwife?? if so mention it to them and they can check your wound.

Keep eating plenty as will need the extra calories for your milk and drink plenty to try and flush any nasties out.

    hope you feel better soon,
    big hugs

Iwanttohavesomemoney - Dont worry about being out of date, the advice is good still, thanks x

I bought some hungry baby milk earlier, it is the same brand as his other milk and I was just going to give him it at night as that seems to be his main problem area. He will go for much longer between feed in the day, 3.5-4 but only lasts about 1.5-2 hours at night:eek:. Maybe will hold off giving him it though if you guys don`t recommened it yet.

Just wrote to tommee tippee to complain as the breast pump we bought melted! We put it in their steriliser, with the amount of water they recommended and at the wattage they stated and it melted! Had to go and fork out another £25 for a new one:mad: Need to have it as Aidan is lazy, latches on fine but then falls alseep!! It was driving the midwives crazy in the hospital. At least I know he is getting the goodness of the breastmilk even though hes a lazy little thing! Anyway hopefully Tommee Tippee will send me some vouchers or something?

I suspect my scar may be a bit infected as it is a little bit wet still, midwife is not visiting anymore and I am waiting for health visitor to get in contact for a visit. If I still feel poopy tomorrow will book an appointment with the doctors.

Before I start.....I'm really not a bad mother, but I managed to get my lo to stay awake by taking her sleepsuit off. So only in a vest.....the cooler surrounding will stop baby from falling asleep.

Oh and try to bath baby late at night, and let Aidan feed as long as he wants, he will hopefully sleep alot longer.

These are little tips that were given to me!

To help prevent any possible scar infection from starting or worsening, add salt to your bath water 1 - 2 tablespoons. If you don't have a bath then add a teaspoon of salt to a bowl of water and bathe the area regularly (2 - 3 times a day). This also applies to just about any infections and is marvellous.

    Hello
    Poorly sick today :(
Still have temperature and feel quite yuck so OH rang midwife whilst I was asleep and she is popping by to have a look at me. Poor little Aidan has a bloated tummy, doesnt seem to be bothering him at all but upset me. Also got upset as I couldnt lift him or do anything with him yesterday as I felt so sore and rundown so there were a few tears. Cant have a bath at mo Sue cant get in and out as still in too much pain and cant put full weight on it. Will try bathing it though.
OH is working from home until Thursday but Friday he actually has to go to the office  not sure how I will manage on my own, might see if mum will come round?

Nothing MSE to report, just making sure I still log onto here and have a look and also keep doing my daily scracthcards.
Sorry, this is a bit miserable isnt it? :p

Hope your mum can come round when oh is back at work!

I also had to try the stripping of baby just into vest to try and keep them awake! worked a little better.....so might be worth a try when you feel alittle better..

And atleast you can get the midwife to check aiden and his belly, will give you peace of mind if everything is ok..

    lots of hugs xxxx
