Hello
I have all the ingredients to make a banana bread in my Morphy Richrds Fastbake all except Baking Soda - what does the baking soda do and would it be missed? It only needs 1/4 tsp?
Any advice gratefully received[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

the baking soda will make the bread/cake rise so without it i'm afraid the bread will be flat as a pancake.
i have used thistle-down's banana bread recipe on this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=199668
and it has been delicious. goes down a treat at work too though i do use less sugar than there is in the recipe. do you have self raising flour instead of baking soda?0 -

I always make it in the oven thought its probably banana cake not bread. My kids love it.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

1 egg
150g s/r flour
3 ripe bananas, mashed
Mix together, cook for about 30 - 40mins at 180C
You could add a chopped up mars bar for a different taste!!!! (and a few extra calories!!!)One day I might be more organised...........
