I think I have something similar to this. I use it to keep all my breadmaking supplies in (i use the breadmaker). It does just the job and its all together when you need it.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I keep takeaway and ice-cream tubs too. Pound shops also good, also discount shops such as Superbuys and Poundstretcher/Instore, if there's one near you.0

I'm going to risk being contentious here and say, if you can afford it buy some good quality tupperware-style ones because they alst for years. I have a cupboard full of assorted cheap ones, but I have to keep rememebring which ones can't take liquids because of the crack in the side, which ones aren't transportable to work because the lids no longer stay on.... etc, etc. A couple of months ago I was helping my mother clean out her pantry and was lucky enough to find some tupperware continers from when we were kids 30 years ago - a bit grubby but the difference between them and my pound shop ones is amazing. The tupperware ones bounce rather than crack when knocked or dropped, the lids fit as tightly as the day they were bought! It almost made me want to be a tupperware rep! (Though I don't think they do parties anymore, sadly....)
When I can afford it I'm off to a kitchen shop to find a good quality brand and then I'm going to hunt down the cheapest supplier... if anyone has recommendations I'd be happy to take them!0 -
I use plastic takeaway tubs from the chinese or the indian, I cull them regularly because otherwise they take over the cupboard. I have seen them in the £1 shop too and in supermarkets such as Asda and Tesco. Instore and Matalan do decent quality boxes for a low price too.0

Today I bought five 69p small (468ml) cup style tupperware tubs. They're freezeable and microwaveable and most importantly it has a rubber seal making them perfect for the soup I'm having every lunch (and just made!)

Genuine Tupperware can be picked up cheaply on ebay. It's the best quality and has a lifetime guarantee. If you've got loads of friends you could have a Tupperware party and you get some items free for playing hostess - depending on how much your guests order. I did this once and got loads of lovely stuff for the cost of putting on a few snacks and asking people to bring a bottle.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Ok then chaps! now I am actually cooking meals and things I usually make to much and dont want to be eating one thing for ever and a day so will freeze the leftovers. Whats the best/cheapest way to store them? If I bought containers guess it would work out fairly expensive and sometimes theres lots and sometimes a little so would need diff sizes as well. I was thinking if I buy a selection of freezer bags and put these into a container then freeze it then take it out again to store it would be ok. But maybe not? also would cheapo freezer bags from poundshop be just as good as tesco's?0

I use both freezer bags and plastic containers bought from Poundland and they work just fine! I got 8 boxes for £2 and I use these for soups or meals. I think I got 500 bags for £1 and I use them for rolls, bread, chickpeas, ham, kidney beans, the list goes on!!!Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j
