i use the plastic tubs that get used for chinese takeaway.
they are fab and i hate to throw away something so useful. it wasn't until i read on mse about using them and now i keep every one. i just keep on re-using them and they are fab in a mircowave. i find they are just the right size for one portion.
i am so glad we don't live near a lakeland. looking at the catalogue was bad enough. oh i just loved it.0 -
Not strictly on topic, I know, but I feel I must stand up in defence of the banana guard! It means I can put a healthy snack in my bag without fear of it getting crushed and being a) inedible and b) all over the inside of my bag. Also comes highly recommended by golfers, walkers etc etc - anyone who might want a mobile banana, really. But I didn't get mine from Lakeland, but off the internet, so it isn't yellow, but a rather obscene looking pink!! I also got a glow in the dark one for a friend whose bag is regularly adorned with squashed banana!0

I use these too, and because they're free, no need to fuss when they eventually crack. Ice-cream tubs good too.
Word of warning though; you shouldn't really use either of these to microwave the food in, as they're not usually of the type of plastic that it's safe to use; in other words, you can get the plastic leaching into the food. It's safest to turn the container upside-down (with the lid on, obvioulsy) run the hot water over it so it loosens it from the container and then put on a plate or a microwave-safe bowl to microwave.0 -

Right, thanks a lot !!! You realise you have put my one saving grace in jeopardy :rotfl: Now I urgently need to find something else I could have no possible need for!!! BUT if I succumb it's definitely going to be yellow - I will not have an obscene pink one:rotfl:
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Yes, if you think that pulling an ordinary yellow banana guard from your bag is going to get you funny looks, try it with a bright pink one! It didn't look so bad on the website, honestly, officer... :rotfl:0

I use:
- margerine tubs,
- large yoghurt pots,
- ice cream tubs,
- take away tubs.
Admittedly I use all of them in the microwave (don't believe all these scare stories) but I would like to point out that the take away tubs usually have writing on the top which actually says they can be microwaved. Trouble is now we have a freezer we don't buy take aways as we always have a stock of stuff I've frozen.0 -
Would appreciate any advice PLEASE.
I'm puzzled as to what containers are used for freezing HM soups, so any help as to what and where I might look for them please?0 -
In the past I have used plastic bottles (from water or pop,) or other plastic containers.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I eat a lot of Yeo Valley yoghurts - the label is a cardboard sleeve which you detach and recycle, leaving you with a beautiful transparent 1/2 litre lidded pot for freezing soup, and keeping beans, dried fruit, flour, sugar, whatever. I've got tens of the things in the freezer and cupboards.0
