  • I was just thinking this yesterday, I've got two and thought they'd be perfect for putting meals in but how could I get some more without buying takeaways!! Shall be on the lookout now!!

If you know a chinese takeaway that's using them, maybe you could ask if you could purchase from them? 10p each would seem to be a reasonable price - my pack of 10 came from the 99p store.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Morrison also sell them. £1.49 I don't know how many in a pack though. I remember wilkinsons being a better offer.

They sell them in the Chinese supermarket down here but if i freeze meals i do it by bagging the food & then freezing it inside a dish. When its frozen remove the dish & stack the frozen food away. When you want to serve it then remove the bag & stick the food back in the same dish. you can sort of file the food away vertically if you choose the right dish, & save loads of freezer space.:D

I buy a box of 20 freezer bags for about 80p in Wilkinsons, but i also buy the value foil from tesco (24p for 10metres), line the foil tray with the cheapie foil, make the lasagne, shepherds pie etc in it, let it cool for a while, put it in the freezer til its almost frozen, then CAREFULLY take the foil out of the tray, wrap it up and freeze, then you can keep using the foil trays without having to throw them out. i've also found i can just defrost the foil-packed meal, then leaving it wrapped up, i put it in the oven on a baking tray and cook it like that. i bought the freezer to microwave ones but to be honest they only lasted about 2 or 3 uses before they cracked / got lil holes in the bottom :(

I always have trouble taking the bags out of the plastic boxes once they are frozen - they seem to weld themselves together.

I have some of those takeaway type boxes - but they shatter easily if you drop them when frozen, as I found out the other day, sending a portion of soup skidding across the floor :) I've just bought a load of freezer/microwave safe plastic storage boxes frim Lakeland to replace my old and worn assortment of 'tupperware' type containers - I'll see how I get on with those.
