Hi SA, thanks for the update. I am sure that you can say the jan surplus is for your fees. Or even if the OR does unfortunately take it, he can't do it again next month. Glad that you have cut your hours, you have to do what you can and if it is getting you down working too much, then I am all for preserving your sanity above having extra money. Yes extra money is nice but if you haven't got the time to appreciate it, then what is it for. I only work 12 hours as week as it is all I can do with the two kids and working opposite my OH's shift pattern.

I haven't had the chance to read the provident thread but if you haven't got the money then what is she going to do? She has no legal powers, she will just have be told, and then she has no choice but to go away.

That is a good prezzie from work. I got a bottle of wine and a box of after eights. :D

I had a bit of a panic moment today, I kept thinking about how I might get refused BR and then I worried about the OR and how he would tear my soa to pieces and I would end up with a massive IPA. But it will be like that until I actually am BR I suppose. And then will have to take the OR interview as it happens. Hope I get a nice OR.

I am off to have some wine now, speak to you all later.

Thanks YM, hope that you have a great weekend too. Can you remind me? Are you an advance member of the March club when it gets going? :D

  • Yes inded i am. Inaugrial march member :D

Tottally know where you are coming from regarding being refused and large IPA etc. I keep thinking the worst all the time and I bet I get an OR similiar to someone like Herr Flick. Just have to wait I suppose until the day arrives.

  • Good morning everyone.....

I am sitting here at my desk, yes, I know it's Sunday but it is a last bit of O/T before the Brave New World.
After weeks of being warned that we will not be given overtime from January onwards and that we will be working any 5 days out of 7 when our contracts are changed, I decided to cut my hours over the Christmas and New Year.
I was due to be working some 10 - 12 hour shifts and I thought I would start as I mean to go on ....... well, my bosses face was a picture but she couldn't say anything in the circumstances and grudgingly reduced my hours.

So, I have now got a rota that looks quite normal and reasonable. 9.30 - 5.30 days and a little bit of O/T on Boxing Day. For me that is really cushy, after years of working round the clock trying to afford my commitments.
The big BR day can't come soon enough now - I may even bring the date forward a week...... I am feeling brave today :j
My co-op details and electron card have arrived and I am changing over the direct debits and getting my salary paid into it from Jan onwards.
It all seems very smooth, I hope it stays that way.....
I just wish Rachel and Vincent had won SCD - bit disappointed about that!!!

A Herr Flick OR! :rotfl: Will have that mental picture in my head now! Thanks. I hope I don't have a face to face OR interview or he will wonder why I can't keep a straight face which I am sure will not go down well! :o:eek:

Hi SA, working on a Sunday! Tsk Tsk! ;) But then my OH just gone off to work.

If you can bring your BR day forward and want to get it over with, then it might be a good idea. less time to worry about it!

I haven't switched my salary over as yet. or any direct debits. will do it at the start of January after this months d/d's have gone out.

I am sorry but I really liked Tom and Camilla! I wanted them to win more for Camilla's sake because she has been in it six years and always got to the final or the last three and never won it.

Don't work too hard SA. :D

Rest assured Donna, not too much hard work going on today...... ;)

I work for a tv company in a sports department. Sunday is one of our busiest days.... hence being at work.
I have set up d/ds for BT and the AA because they are post BR. I have taken all my spare cash out of my old bank because I owe them big time. There are 3 d/ds due on the 1st Jan so I will try and pay them cash or double on 1st Feb when the new d/ds are in place.
I wanted to get the salary details transferred so that they have plenty of time to get that up and running before we are paid at the end of Jan.

SCD - Don't mind Tom but not over keen on Camilla - don't know why.

I don't know why but I am getting a cold sweat about the old IVA from 10 years ago. I think it might be because it is dredging up the past again when I thought it was firmly dead and buried.
Heading for home at 6pm to a glass of red wine and a lamb casserole courtesy of my new slo cooker... thanks to DFW tip!

I have one d/d which is due 9th Jan which is two days after I go BR. I guess I will have to cancel it on my old bank account and try pay them over the phone with new card - testing out whether they will take electron I guess. and then set the direct debit for next month.

I have a slow cooker too! got it as a wedding present but should really use it more than I do! Enjoy your lamb casserole. Not too long to go now til hometime. :D

I had forgotten quite how good they are - I can cook one day and then there is enough for the next day too, saving on fuel, time and effort!

At the risk of sounding like an old fart - it is quite a good night on the tele too ..... looking forward to putting my feet up. I just wish I could sleep better .... I think it is because there is so much in my head about what is going on, I seem to be wide awake at 4am. Horrid!

We are always freezing stuff, whatever we don't serve up at dinner time gets frozen and then my OH takes it to work for his meals at work. It does save loads more money than you think. :money:

I haven't got a freezer. My tiny (and I mean tiny) flat has a kitchen that measures 6' x 7'. I had to take the door off to be able to get anything in it!
There are gaps for two appliances, both up to worktop height so settled for an oven and a fridge. I haven't even got a washing machine - hence the £20 a month for laundry on my SOA.
Even if I was to get a washing machine, I am on the third floor and would never buy a tumble dryer at todays leccy prices.
Luckily, being on my own it isn't too much of a hassle and I have a little "Dot Cotton" in the local launderette who does all my washing for me... And she does it all so well I don't even have to iron it...... brill!!
