You have not acted illegally, there are no laws covering this, also you have not been fined or given a penalty, its an unenforceable parking notice!

Euro parking admitted last week in the Sunday Times that they have never taken anyone to court, and they said that they will not in future, so baring that in mind you should not pay them this scam ticket, and you should ignore completely.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I visited my 94 year old mother and parked in the parking soace designated for her visitors. I displayed the Visitors permit and her Disability sticker. though I imagine the Disability sticker is irrelevant to this issue. I received a penalty notice from Euro Car Parks which states I parked in Permit Holders Car Park and am ordered to pay 70 pounds. The permit we own is 9 months out of date. We have tried to get this permit replaced but were told not to bother about it and that the permit we had was good enough even though it was out of date. The fact that it is out of date however is not mentioned on the ticket, just that I am parked illegally in Permits Holders Car Park. Where do these people imagine I have acted illegally? i can only imagine seeing the Disability Sticker they have thought they might be able to push some old people around and obtain some revenue. It seems outrageous to me that I could be issued with this charge when I am clearly displaying a permit on my windscreen. DO i write to these people with a photo copy of the permit or do I ignore it?. The whole thing is so stressful
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give me.

They are just trying to get money out of victims.

I got my first private parking ticket from Euro 18 months ago and ignored it of course as I already knew it was a scam. You will just receive some threatograms from Euro and 'Control Account' who are a debt collector who can do nothing.

Just ignore the 3 or 4 letters and that will be it. Do not write, there is no real appeal to a PPC, the answer is always no.

But - DO complain to the Managing Agent or Landlord about this harassment. The more people who complain to the retailer about their protection racketeers in the car park the better. Some retailers and landlords have already taken action and kicked out PPCs. :D

  • Hi all,
Today I went to do work for a client who gives me visitor's parking permits that he buys from the council. I used one of these in the correct manner but was parked in a pay-and-display bay unaware that apparently this is a no-no.

I'd read the permit before using it and it says "for use in resident, shared use and general permit bays", and took "general permit" to cover pay-and-display, as I have done many times in the recent past.

Anyone think there's a chance of winning an appeal? By which I mean calling their bluffish standard letters and inviting them to take me to court.

    Thanks for any advice

I take it this is a Council PCN? You should have started your own thread on the board linked in my signature, not added a different question here on an irrelevant and old discussion thread. Not being funny, you'd have got more replies as your query is lost here!

Certainly appeal it all the way to the adjudicator, most people win when they get advice from pepipoo forums here:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30

Register, read the FAQs and stickies and post a NEW pepipoo thread of your own attaching a pic of the front & back of the PCN (all small print but blank off your car ID). See 'how to post pictures' in their sticky threads at the top so you can see what they allow on there.

I would never just pay a Council PCN. Always got to be worth appealing and causing the Council some extra work, when you are only ever risking paying the full (non-discounted) fine in doing so, providing you don't ignore any deadlines.

And add the fact that most adjudications are found in favour of the motorist (some areas as high as 90% adjudications either not defended by the Council or found in favour of the motorist!).

With pepipoo's help the odds are very much in your favour. :D

  • hi all.
got a parking ticket for bring on double yellow lines, which is fair enough. however the car i drive is a vauxhall and on the ticket its described as an VANHOOL. ( vehicle make ) the vauxhall is an estate , does this make any sense???
If this is a spelling error i think ihave grounds to contest my ticket ...??!!!
    any ideas fiolks?
  • Apart from Van Hool being a bus its not enough on its own. You could ask for copies of the pics taken. I assume the reg is correct?

No. Not a valid appeal point but there are always others, even on DYL.

See my post above yours, it applies to any Council PCN. Read it as though I have replied to you and get over to pepipoo for some advice unless you like just paying up.

  • My stage 2 parking appeal against Kingston Council has been rejected after more than 56 days after they aknowledge receiving the appeal. They say special circumstances apply because in my appeal letter i informed them i would be out of the country between certain dates. I have been here for the last 29 days and the letter of rejection arrived today. 7 days after the 56 day period, and i am going out of the country tomorrow.

They claim, in a telephone conversation i have had with them today, that special circumstances apply because i asked them to take account of my being out of the country between 17/11 and 16/12 and 15/1 and 29/1.

I am astounded. Do they have a legal right to take this position. Surely 56 days means 56 days!

I am fighting the notice on a number of points one of which is that the road i was parked in, The Bittoms, was until recently(until i advised them) shown on the Councils own web site as NOT included in the Contolled Parking Zone .
  • Not sure on legal matters but go to pepipoo.com, register and ask them as they have legal bods on there who are red hot on council tickets.
