Thanks to all of you. The car wasn't hired by my employer. I have already call the car company and they seemed very agreeable to the fact that I have clearly asked them to forward all communications to me (they said they do it anyway) and not to make any payments on my behalf. I have already drafted a letter and it is on its way. I'll also cancel my card today. Just wondering how will they refund the deposit if I cancel this one.

In your letter to the hire co. (or in a follow up letter), tell them you've had to cancel your card as it was lost and could they send a cheque for the deposit refund please? :)

And make sure you make it clear that they are not to make payment for the scam ticket, and not to panic at the debt collector letters as they are your responsibility and you are 'dealing' with the scam.

  • Hello

I am a bit angry and upset as I had put money into the meter outside the job centre where I went for a new claim of JSA (which is not pleasant as it is) and was held up at the Job centre after stating my parking meter ticket was about to run out and then to be held up for a job search (1 quick one??) and let go five minutes later. To then rush outside where two parking attendants were leaning on the wall near my car and not interested in hearing that I had been held up and that I had put a lot 90p (from 8.57am to 9.42am) in the machine!! They issued the ticket to me at 9.49am.
They said to appeal if not happy nothing they could do and the job centre said they were not liable and let me go abit early!

I am just gutted and cross and £30 is alot of money whether applying for benefit or not and now am stuck as what to do!
Any advice would really be great. :(

Post a pic of the front & back of your PCN (car ID and PCN no. blanked) on pepipoo here:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30

Read the FAQs and stickies first so you know the rules and how to post pics. Pepipoo get almost all Council PCNs cancelled, they will advise you.

Just had my second call from Roxburghe :D, I never let the guy even start, as soon as I knew who they were I started on him. Told him the police were involved and also he would be hearing from our lawyers, he wanted to know when they would be in touch and I told him it would be when they had finished the investigation into their practices and as we are in Scotland our laws are slightly different to theirs. I also told him that I hoped that they would go the same way as the clampers down south are going, he said but were a debt collection agency I replied yes but your scammers just the same as they are. I then mention going to court, he replied that yes if it gets to court, I told him that no I wasn't talking about them taking us I'm talking about us taking them as the letters they sent were full of inaccuracies and that the police and lawyers said we had a very good case. Now all I need to do is get myself a good lawyer :rotfl:.
  • Here comes another angry moaning for Illegal removal of car (that’s what I think). I parked my car out side the premises owned by me, I do have CCTV camera over looking the parking bayJ. I parked on permit holders only bay, which is operational only for two hours from 10am to 12 noon) with a guest/temporary permit (but made a silly mistake and put the wrong date on the card 1st septermber2010 instead of 2nd September).
The road where is parked the cars is dead end had lots of free permit holders parking spaces. As I had solicitor appointment and when I came back car was gone. They took my car to Newham car compound and I had to pay £250 to get my car back. Plus £20 cab fare. Found out that a ticket was issued at 10:35 and then they came and removed the car at 11:55.
I need help as I am going to appeal against the removal/compound charge.

You need to post your question on pepipoo.com if you haven't already. They have had success in reclaiming plenty of Council tickets and tows:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30

You will need to show the pepipoo posters a scan or close up pic of the front & back of the PCN and ALL documents received, receipt, all pages of appeal paperwork, etc. Just remove the PCN number and your ID details & car details, leave the dates and location visible as these can be an appeal point if the Council haven't done the paperwork as they should.

    Good luck!

(P.S. this only applies to liveheart as it's a real Council PCN, as opposed to a fake PPC paper aeroplane).

I recently received a parking ticket from our local council.

I was in turns out that one side of the road is for residents only, the other pay and display. I of course bought a pay and display ticket, but parked on the residents side of the road.

My argument is that the only sign informing me it was a residents bay, is attached to a fence at knee level. This sign was on the passenger side of my car, so from getting out of the car and buying the ticket, I had no way of seeing it.

The traffic warden even smiled at me as he watched me get out of the car and buy a ticket. I thought he was just being friendly!

I've appealed on the grounds the sign was not in a suitable place and it has been rejected at the first hurdle.

Do I have any grounds to win this battle?

  • 99 times out of 100 they will reject at the first objection, after all they want your money. I suggest get pics of signs, lines of bays and measurements of height of sign and distance of signs from ends of bays and between signs. There are legal requirements to have them at certain heights and distances. Also copy/photo the pcn, both sides, host on tinypic. Copy/paste the url and put it into a post. Also do this onto pepipoo.com for extra advice.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Request the Traffic Management Order as well.
  • I received a PCN and it says my car was seen "From 12:02 to 12:05", but on the first evidence pictures was taken at 12:06. It looks like they can't prove my car was there between the given times.
Is it enough to cancel my PCN? Thanks ...
