They will never take you to court as they would lose as the ticket is not enforceable, so keep your money and ignore these idiots, make sure you pass on what you've discovered to others.
If the ticket has 'Parking Charge Notice' on it its a scam, the only tickets you need to deal with are from councils and police, come back here for advice if that happens.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Could anyone help me with a ticket I got. I think I've got grounds to appeal, but not sure.
I parked on a street that has marked bays, but it was on a day where you don't have to pay (i.e. Sunday). The area I parked in was not in a bay, but there was also no yellow lines. The attandant told me that there are signs advising to park only in marked bays, but the sign he pointed to wasn't facing the road and I couldn't read the sign from where I parked even though it was on a lamppost next to where I parked.
I think the fact there were no road markings isn't fair as there was no clear indication I couldn't park there. There are double yellows up to the start of the parking zone, but they then stop.0 -
copy/photo the pcn, both sides(remove personal bits but leave dates), and host on tinypic. Copy the url and paste it into a post. You may have to remove the http:// bit to get it to work. Photo's of the place where you parked would help, along the road and lengthways. Pic of the alleged sign and relation to area parked. You should have been safe to park there as the road should have had syl or dyl if you were not meant to park there. With all this could you please start a separate thread as it will get lost in with this one.
Take all above and also post onto pepipoo.com, they love ceo incompetancy like this.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
I just wondered where is best to post a Q or ask whats best to do. I was issued a PCN for, according to the PCN being 8 minutes late. When I returned to the car and saw the ticket i couldn't believe it. I checked my watch and it was still 3 minutes until my ticket expired. I went and checked and my watch against the ticket machine and it was two minutes slower. My watch was two hours ahead, as I had just come back from honeymoon but I was calculating the UK time whilst parked in their car park and was sure to return on time. I wrote to the council and they said that they had thought carefully about my situation and that the PCN would still stand. They suggested that I should return to my car earlier to ensure such instances did not occur in future. Am I supposed to over pay all the time? Is there anything I can do, ₤50 is such a steep penalty for 8 minutes that didn't occur- i can pay half they said if I pay within 14days.
This has never happened to me and I just don't know what I can do.Quidco: 999.76 cash back so far!0 -

There are 3 stages to a Council PCN appeal and Councils normally just arbitrarily decline at the first hurdle. They like to play a game of bluff and know that some people will just pay after the first refusal.
Get advice from pepipoo forums (link below) as they may be able to add more to your appeal. I expect they will say it's up to the Council to show that the CEO had synchronised his clock with the P&D machine, and I also suspect the pepipoo posters will suggest more info for you to add to your appeal.
Can you start a new thread there (don't post on someone else's thread) and show them pics of all pages of all paperwork received (front and back of PCN, leave the dates & location and all small-print visible) - just blank out identifying details like the PCN number.
If you've decided to keep appealing, make sure you put in a formal appeal in good time, within the deadline, once you get the Notice to Owner. Pepipoo link, post now:

If the Council decide to bluff even more then unless you want to pay, it's onwards and upwards to the adjudicator (an informal process, like a meeting & discussion about what happened). Councils often get close to this stage and then offer no evidence and fold. You will only have to pay the full fine (non discounted) if you lose at adjudication, no costs etc.
Personally it's a risk I would take because most cases win at adjudication.
Good luck, sounds like you have some grounds for formal appeal.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

i parked in a cycle lane at the end of double yellow line in Brighton. as there was no signs saying when cycle lane in use i thought that parking where there was no lines i was allowed to park there. when i came back i had been given a PCN by a Civil Enforcement Officer.
1) Am i in the wrong to park there?
2) is parking in a cycle a ticketable offence anyway?
highway code allows me to park where theres no lines so have the rules changed and if so why has part road got double lines and part road no lines when they were no help to the road user. confused0 -

Most Council PCNs can be appealed successfully for various reasons that pepipoo posters can help you with. Start a new thread here (don't post on another thread):

Hi Coupon-mad,
Thanks so much for the pointers and confidence you've given me. I am worried about contesting further, as I work long hours I'm not sure if I'll be able to go to a adjudicator meeting, but I don't suppose I have any other choice as there isn't another way. I'll post on the site you mentioned asa I can.
Thanks againQuidco: 999.76 cash back so far!0 -
I had a PCN from Camden last month, having not scratched out the DAY on my visitor's permit. Everything else was scratched out as instructed. I appealed, saying it was just an honest mistake but they wrote on 11th Oct (rec'd today) to say they rejected my appeal.
My friend, who gave me the permit, said "Just keep writing back to them. I have done this before and in 6 out of 7 cases they have allowed my appeal eventually"
Should I do the same thing? Nothing to lose, I guess.
What are my chances of appealing to the Parking and Traffic Appeals Service?0
