also to people feeling under the weather.
OS tea tonight - I had a look to see what I could make and it was stir fried onion and brocolli on spaghetti with a sprinkle of grated cheddar on the top. And loads of black pepper. It was lovely. I fancied something sweet after so I microwaved a frozen banana and put some maple syrup in the slit I made in the skin. Very sweet and delicious.
Have made a list of Christmas food and expect I won't get round to getting in until next week.
DH did a non-OS thing and bought 1st class stamps and posted the cards. gggrrr. Today was last 2nd class day but he has a thing about buying 2nd class stamps
Need to strip and change the last single bed and then they are all done for our kids of various ages for time over Christmas. We have one of those families with kids and step kids. All get on well which is lovely. We will have a sprinkling of girlfriends too.
Might wrap some presents tonight but really want a lazy evening as we had DH work do last night and my lot from work are on the alcohol trail from lunchtime tomorrow. I will have a few and come back home in the afternoon this year rather than dance wildly late in the evening.
Off to have a little browse on here

Mudgkin, so sorry to hear your news.
I need to make an extra loaf soon, my contribution to the staffroom buffet tomorrow.
DS has collected his washing most of it had dried by this evening.
I'm all ready for Christmas except for hubbys present & I'll get that next week when I've finished work. He went to town today to get mine & then emailed me to say 'Do you want your present wrapped or shall I leave it in the Robert Dyas bag?' I asked him this morning to buy me some new knives for Christmas & he knows I need to use them at the weekend, lol.
Only 2 or 3 of us on Christmas Day, but 10 adults, 2 kids & 2 dogs on Boxing Day.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Just to share...

Little bear is fine but I realised that he could get out of the playpen I thought he was asleep in when he fell downstairs. The playpen is large, solid and has high sides. Not high enough. The door to his room needs a specific type of gate because it is a lot narrower than standard and the construction of the staircase mean that a gate at the top of the stairs is impossible to fit.

He had wandered round that floor, and not only brought down his favourite toy with him but two bottles of medicine (still with their childproof lids on thank goodness) that were in a different room than his. Fortunately he missed the toilet cleaner.

 does not do my feelings justice.

(((mudgekins))) and DH. My thoughts are with you

    (((taplady)))

My mum had her visit to the hospital yesterday for the results of her lumpectomy...... Well, let's just say that they didn't get it all and she's going in for a second lumpectomy on Monday. :(:( Fingers crossed they get it all this time.

It's been our "bring and share" lunch in school today. Unfortunately, I wasn't very OS and bought my contribution. I'm sorry that I've let you all down. :o

Anyway, tomorrow is our last day of term. :j :j My class are truly ready for it. They (and I!) are exhausted. In fact, I'll be going for a shower and then off to bed! Well, it is our Christmas party tomorrow night....

    Take care all

  • Vicky - sorry to hear about your mum, fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly this time.

Little bear is in his cot. I am listening as hard as I can, but it is hard to tell suspicious noises from the normal banging and crashing of the neighbours. As far as I can tell he slipped down one or two steps but then banged the door at the bottom of our stairs that was shut. Sigh. He was completely composed and gave me his gorgeous smile. He knows it usually gets him out of trouble.

Regardless, the adventures on the stairs have obviously not traumatised him as he was trying to climb on top of a four foot high linen press this evening and I managed to intercept an escape attempt from his high chair that probably would have denied me grandchildren.

    I think I need a strategy.

This weekend is going to be extremely interesting, and we are going to try and get the house a little more organised against little bear and his adventurous spirit. I am a little proud of him, as it must have been very difficult to get out of the playpen, but my nerves are all of a state.

I've also just popped in to offer love and support to Mudgkin and Taplady.

Still barking, but now got some cough medicine which is supposed to loosen the phlegm (TMI I know). Feeling OKish now, went to Asda this morning for bits and bobs and grabbed some of the £1 bargains, we have got the rest of the Xmas things out of the loft. Need a good hoover and dust before I put them out that it will be a catlick and promise until they come down again. Made stew for tea. Still everything to wrap, but think I am OK for presents now.
