Also, after cutting and pasting number, couldn't get dratted thing to add more text. Poot.
Hester - thank you, I shall now definitely try slumpie.
Taplady - it can be so hard when you have those sudden 'shocks' when you realise that there is a gap. Thinking of you.
Little bear didn't get to playgroup as he was the proud possessor of an extremely productive nose this morning, complete with added nosebleed. He is now blessedly in the land of Nod, after a great many vocal objections.
Hugs to all.
Hmm. Must put in OS. Well, erm, probably ironing. Scrambled eggs for me for tea.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Morning everyone!
Mudgekin - thinking of you and your DH and sending you hugs and love. So sorry about the news, and as everyone has said, we are all here to support you when you need it.
justpeyton - I have been a bit slack with my clicks - I get bored, no matter how fast I do them I can't do it in less than an hour unless I skip most of them...lol My puter is just not very fast!
sistercas - Watched it, drooled and thoroughly enjoyed it!! Actually I have to agree that George Cloony has fab eyes and I have always liked Robert Downey Jnr for the same reason and also his way with words...
Kathy - great news about the little one
RageinEden - I have to say I am not feeling very christmassy either. .
Pippa - I am convinced it works too. I don't take it during the summer, was told you have to give your body a rest from it, but once we reach November and people around me start sneezing, I start taking it!! My lodger is home with the flu so I am on double doses just for this week - that and vit C seem to be staving it off thank God!
Tru - enjoy your afternoon!
dealwithdebtdot -to the thread, I don't think you have posted on this one before but you will love it here, and I was about to suggest a spanish omlette type thing too - great minds think alike!:rotfl:
Wrapped my first christmas prezzie last night but still don't feel christmassy! Am a bit stressed about what is best to do with my nephews pressies, whether to drop them at Granmas before Christmas or wait til after christmas and take them to their home. I know this sounds trivial compared to what others are going through, but to me it isn't, and until it's sorted, I know I will have this sick feeling in my stomach.
Onto other things - woke up several times last night as the poor lodger has the flu and can't stop coughing. We couldn't close any of the doors fully last night as they were still tacky from the painting, so everything was louder!
We had left over chinese for dinner last night and the remainder of the cheesecake for dessert. Tescos order arrived which was fun and that included most things for christmas except the gammon and fresh veg. We are doing the gammon in coca-cola and then basting with black treacle and mustard powder- tried it last year and we both really loved it.
Dinner tonight will be mash with smoked mackerel fillets. They are two days out of date but vacuum packed so perfectly Ok. Can smell the bread maker so that must be just about done! What a great smell! Poor lodger cannot smell a thing she is so full of flu.
Had a parcel from America from Tristan for my birthday. He sent some american hot crisp/chip things that he knows I adore and a little pink trinket box in the shape of a cowboy hat.... so kitsch it's gorgeous!!
Anyway,to everyone who needs them today, and
to everyone who has the nasty flu bug.

Slumpie is a dish mentioned in Terry Pratchett's Discworld books and is a 'winter warmer' type of meal. I am afraid I haven't got the relevant cookbook at hand, but Hester yesterday said 'Slumpie is minced beef cooked in beer with mushrooms & spinach, not sure what it wil taste like but it smells yummy, it's from the Nanny Ogg cookbook, but that will mean nothing to anyone unles they are a Terry Pratchett fan.'
Hope you don't mind me quoting, HH

Bargainbird - I took my name as aspiring to be like a character in a Terry Pratchett book, and I cannot recommend the books enough. They are written with a kind heart, a surreal outlook on the world and a very sharp wit.
Also, Nanny Ogg's Cookbook is not just a collection of recipes. The chapter on the language of flowers is really funny. Nanny Ogg is a character that is firstly a witch of the wise woman sort, an older lady with lots of children and grandchildren, who drinks brandy from a pint mug, has had an extremely adventurous past and knows all the verses to 'A Hedgehog can't be b*ggered at All' She writes cookbooks from the point of view of the 'good old days' when vitamins weren't so important and what you wanted on your plate was lots.
As far as I know, slumpie is only mentioned in the Terry Pratchett books.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Well, turned left out of work today and went to the library instead of turning right and going to Borders. How MSE is that? LOL. 2 decent cups of coffee at a colleagues in exchange for sewing cub badges on for her. Now at home contemplating. Do I sit and look at library books (researching for christmas baking of course LOL) or do I 'get on' with other more 'important' stuff?[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
