Thursday 18th December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 18th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hi folks!

Prob the only time I will get to start this thread off... LOL For those who don't know me I'm Reverbe and a relative newbie here on the Os boards.Tho I have been on MSE for a while.

I'm still on a high from meeting Jamie Oliver and getting a free large Xmas Pud off him. Just on here with a hot chocolate before bed and reading a thread on what to freeze.

I will bbl no doubt in the am.. Hope you are all well and hugs to those who arent.

God morning,Reverbe, and all who follow. Lucky you, getting to meet Jamie Oliver, Reverbe!

Well, at least I didn't wake up too early this morning, not like the last two mornings.

Plan today is to do some more wrapping up and I have some paperwork to do - especially filing. Where does it all come from? I shall then write out what I hope will be the last food shopping list before Christmas and try and get out early tomorrow to buy it. I must remind DH I need my car back tomorrow. He's been using it for work all week because it's cheaper to run than his car. At the moment, he's working about an hour's drive away so, if he uses my car, it saves around £20 a week in fuel.

Dinner tonight is stew;I shall make enough to have it again on Saturday. It's such an easy and cheap meal, once all the veggies have been prepped.

I hope all those of you who have been unwell are starting to feel better. (((Hugs))) to all of you,and all those who are anxious, too. It's a horrible time for many people at the moment.

Well, nothing else to say at the moment so I shall toddle off and catch up with you all later.

• Morning Reverbe, Kathy & all to follow...

Been awake since 3am hacking away, got up for tea finally at 4.45am... Think I may go & get another in a minute.

Got to go to Uni this morning for a brief meeting, then going onto placement/work for a while (as I have a couple of bits of paperwork that need doing & are playing on my mind). However, I don't think I'll be lasting long & not sure about tomorrow yet.

Let the cat out earlier & couldn't feel any temperature difference between indoors & out! It's so mild out there... Will get some washing out on the airer later.
Supper will be something easy like sausage & mash today. Although my appetite is still not there really (not that it will do me any harm whatsoever!!).

((((((hugs)))))) for all those feeling poorly or having tough times.
xx

Morning.

Still got man flu and will have to nurse it along carefully today so that I can attend the office meal with a bit of enthusiasm. 2 have already cancelled with flu, so numbers are dwindling. £20 is a lot to pay if you can't eat or taste anything.
I left work early last night as I could barely move, so felt a bit better after some sleep.
Just waiting for the paracetamol to kick in.... have a nice day

Morning friends,
I seem to be back to my normal waking at 4.30 staring at the ceiling with mind racing and making endless mental lists.
Today will be hectic, I spoke to DB2 y/day and as he can't come to us for xmas DH and I will take it to him tomorrow.

I have wrapped his and kids presents, finished at silly'o clock last night. I have bought a shed load of things for DB2 to give to his kids, he is strugglling financially. I will go to Lidle and do a big shop for their xmas and take it down tomorrow.

I'll make a shepherds pie for the meat eaters and a quorn one for vegies for diner tomorrow, save him cooking, take some HM bread, soup and an apple cake, and scones, all will have to be cooked this a.m. before going to Lidle.

Well I still haven't caught up, I feel I have lost a week due to the dreaded bug and am now behind, so must get a move on.

Hope today is a kind one for all. (((((((hugs for everyone)))))))))

DH gets the blood test results tomorrow at 9.50 so will leave for Dartmouth about 10.30. Should be there about 12.30, we're staying overnight so will enjoy every minute.

DB2 has to have his Melanoma checked every 2 weeks, he's off for another check-up today so fingers crossed.

Morning All

Feeling better than I was by a long way, though still wheezing/coughing. I've been banished to the spare room, so sat here in bed on the laptop ;) . DH is such a light sleeper, he would get no sleep at all then then he is not fit to know!

OS has been limited to basics and meal cooking. I think most of the shopping is done apart from fresh fruit/veg next week. Must start the wrapping - though it isn't too big a job - cards written and posted.

:grouphug: all round - look after yourselves, especially if not feeling too good.

beth - re the "freezing" the white towels, do you hang them out wet or dry? Anyone tried putting theirs in the freezer overnight?

Morning all,

Not so cold here today, in fact its quite mild  , off to work today, only got tomorrow to go then ive finished :j .

Beth, you are so kind taking Xmas to your DB, what a lovely thought, I am sure he will appreciate it xxx

Hugs to those in need, N9eav, hope you manage to enjoy your Xmas meal.

Chicken Kiev and chips tonight, so nice and easy, the freezer is slowly empting, ready for filling again on Monday

Have good days all xx
• Morning all
Glad you are feeling better JackieO.
Hope you feel better soon N9eav.
WS the Slumpie was very nice, rich & full of flavour, hubby enjoyed it & DS who popped in with his washing ate a huge plateful too, I served it with mash, the book suggests serving it with Clooty dumpling, but hubby's not so keen on that.
Hubby home today so he will empty DW & WM, I just need to get ready for work.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

• Good Morning All

Sitiing here with nice hair - was very enjoyable relaxing at the hairdressers yesterday.

Today need to make the stuffing balls that I forgot yesterday, do all the wrapping then office work until its time to go and watch DS carol concert. He hasnt done one before and I am really looking forward to it.

I also need to make sure that today I write a definitive list of the stuff I need to pick up before Xmas. We are away Sun & Mom so the time is just disappearing. I also found out I have a part time job interview on Tues  so that is another little stress before Xmas.

Probably not too much OS apart from the normal do it everyday stuff - half washing powder, vinegar & stardrops.

Off now to finish my cuppa.

Have a great day.
x

(Redruby - am copying you for dinner)
