  • Thought I wouldn't get away with just the short message...

So full details are that we moved in on Friday, and were sat enjoying our bottle of champagne in the evening when bf asked me to marry him, even got down on one knee, it was very romantic :D I have a white gold ring with inset sapphires and diamonds, it's really pretty.
    Live on £11k in 2011 :D
  • Congratulations, LyndaSharp and Mumzy!

hugs to SL and SFT (but congratulations to SL as well...)

It's been insane here, every different kind of weather. Sun, snow, rain, sleet...now it's snowing by bucketfuls....
:D the road has gone from wet and black to white in just a few minutes, that is amazing...

Feeling better now, thank you, so much better that I actually walked in the snow today. Well, I had to - it was the only way to get home from work....

UPdate: The ice-cream maker is all dried out but it's very, very VERY old and has no instructions. Have tried the person who gave it me (she's moved) and have tried the makers (you'd think they'd keep info on their past products but no, they can't help). Does anyone know how to use a Salton Gelateria model IC4? I think it's one of those where bits of it have to be frozen before use (could just pop it out in the garden under the snow...)
    but I don't really know.

Pips Mum is right, what a difference a day makes! :T:T It's so lovely to have upbeat news to counteract the difficult times some people have been having. Hope those situations resolve themselves happily soon x Sorry to hear about your car, glad OH is okay

Congratulations Mumzy, what a fantastic result! :T I hope you're really proud of yourself. Good luck with the Maths.

Lynda :rotfl::jWhat an hysterical (or completely not in fact) way to tell us such amazing news! Congratulations!! You obviously have to tell us ALL the details, NOW! WOO HOO, another frugal wedding! (Which reminds me, how's everything going for yours SFT?) Congrats on having your house too Lynda :T

Congrats on the win Nyk, you seem to have a lot of luck with the bonds, despite all the odds :T

Had a lovely day today, despite being awake for hours last night (:rotfl:at your reason for insomnia BB :D). Met up with a friend which was lovely and then with my med group which was also interesting, so a small spend day. I also went up to the Dogs Home  and spent some time socialising with the puppies in a rather fetching isolation suit. She's such a different dog once you get in the pen with her, still nervy of course but she came to investigate me quite a lot. I, um, had to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire before I could do this - honestly, I didn't want to - but on the strict understanding that I'm not making any commitment at this stage. She still has compilo bacter so I have at least a few weeks breathing space to work things out one way or the other ;)

Quiet evening in tonight, OH working on his CV and lesson planning for me. Have a great one, may pop on later to get the soon-not-to-be-Sharp gossip :D

Glad you're feeling better redglass, enjoy the snow. Sorry I can't help with the icecream maker.
EDIT: Ooh, didn't have to wait! Ring sounds lovely and very romantic Lynda. Now, one question - how on earth did you get him to propose so soon?! I must be doing something wrong * goes off wondering if it's the animal hoarding* :D

  • Hi Everyone!!
Well done Mumzy!! I bet your children are really proud of you.
Andromache-Good luck in those interviews, they sound very exciting.
Shaz-Hope your son feels better soon.
Pips Mum-Sorry to hear about your car but so glad your OH is ok.
Nyk-Kitchen sounds so organised. Love hearing what you've been up to here and on your blog.
    Congratulations Lyndasharp,
    BB-Well done on your accounts.
Nice to share lots of good news.

Finished early at school today which was nice. Looking forward to HM brocolli and Stilton (christmas present) soup with crusty bread. I'm just like Janey (it was you wasn't it) that I never get fed up with soup!!! Then I'm reading my gossip mag (which helps me unwind and I get £1.50 MOC which is 65p more than mag so I get it for free)..OH and I will carry on reading our Moby !!!!!! novel tonight, I just love the sea-faring language..wish I could go to a book club like others but can't find any near me. And I'm going to enjoy a nice glass of my gift red wine. Lots of frugal achievements to add to the list tonight.
    Take Care xx
    SFT

Just wanted to thank everyone for their best thoughts and prayers regarding Simon. Haven't got an update today but will let you know if anything significant happens. Bless you all!!

Bails-Our very frugal wedding is happening next month on the 27th March...Going to have to start thinking about it seriously soon. We have venue/registrar booked. Going to a posh local pub (I hope) for reception. Only immediate family coming. Got a dress, now not sure about it...so might just pop in to Monsoon over Half Term and get one I like (don't want a wedding dress). OH just wants to wear a smart shirt, no tie. Mum wants to walk me in. Will get flowers on day. Maybe I should be worrying now..???

Congratulations to Mumzy on the exam, Marru on 2nd day of work and sorry I've forgotten someone else has just started a new job, well done to you too....and aaaah, how lovely, congratulations to Lynda, how romantic *sigh*

Congrats to me too on achieving 2 NSDs so far this week/month - guessing it helps that we're still at my parents' and so don't need to leave the house or buy anything, but hey, every little helps :):)

My budget for the month is looking nice and healthy so far, yay me.

Busy playing with ideas for most efficient way to maximise space for clothes drying in the new 'pantry /laundry' room. Mentally spending a lot of money just to get it out of my system til common sense kicks in and the most frugal way of doing it reveals itself. Just been looking at plug-in tower clothes airer's that 'only' cost 3p an hr to run like this one:

    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/F/product/21736

Costs £73 to buy. Any views anyone?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Also I'm planning on going on Orange Wednesday tomorrow..could I just check that you text 241 to Orange in morning and then they text you a code which you show to sales assistant at Cinema. Don't want to get it wrong as going with a friend and would feel silly if I got it wrong. Thanks SFT

Also does anyone know if we pay Council Tax this month if we pay by DD. Have paid last 10 months but have a feeling you don't pay Feb and March Thanks
