  • I must phone my HA tomorrow, got black mold in the bathroom ,I keep cleaning it but it just keeps coming back:confused:, the condensation has got realy bad since they took out the storage heaters and put in radiators.

big hugs for everyone, shelley x

Hi, I just wanted to say that you need to get this sorted as soon as possible as black mould is a massive health and safety risk. The spores explode into the atmopshere and can cause havoc with the lungs, especially in young children and old people. If the HA won't do anything about it you can report it to the Local Environmental Health Department - I had to resort to doing this when I lived in RAF accommodation - that soon put a rocket up their a**ses and they sorted it! Good luck and stay safe. ;)

I am sat here doing the same, and tackled ironing pile for the sole reason of keeping warm. Started with imeasure 3 days ago and used nearly £20 of gas in 48 hours, Elec was only about £3.00 for same period, so im happy with that. I only have heating on 18 anyway, so i might have made a mistake in first reading, might even out over next few days

Put thermostat down to 10 in night, and was woken up at 3am by boiler going on, thats how cold it is in my house, and its only a little house, was clicking on lunchtime at around 7 degrees. ill turn it on again before kids get home, so theyre not struggling for my crazy ideas. house is well insulated and double glazed, maybe it is just cause it is soooooo cold outside

Don't be put off of Freeecycle by a couple of bad experiences.

I would second that. I got a guilty pang hoping I hope I didn't put anyone off by reporting that rude response I got, because most of the people I've dealt with have been great, and I've both offloaded and received many useful things.

Nykmedia cooking oils and fats do not keep that long about a year at most as they go rancid.
I have thought about the cheap food problem and am just going to keep buying when I see bargains but rotating the stock so the oldest gets used first and if it get too expensive then I will buy less or do without.

Thanks for that, I always check the BBE or use by dates and don't really use that much of the stuff. My stockpile of it last year consisted of a BOGOF on $pry Cr!sp n Dry, so the 2 bottles lasted me all year. I have to confess, I tend to buy lard so that I have something to make up my bird seed cakes, and it seems to freeze alright. :o It's also what I use in my bread.

An afterthought - I don't freeze or defrost a whole block of lard, I slice it into loaf sized amounts plus I can just grate what I need when I need it for frying.

    Hello fellow frunshkins,

I've not posted in ages and just caught up with the last 20 pages of posts..phew.

So far I had a good start to the year. Had a few NSDs, convinced BF to put in central heating before the wee one's due and to start saving more seriously :T .

At the same time I've been so knackered because of the pregnancy (often close to falling asleep at work:) ) that I couldn't really be motivated to do much lately plus I had a nasty cold for a week and a half and can't really take anything. But at least the severity of my moodswings has subsided and BF has an easier life :o .

Done my first big Mr T online shop of the year and work lunches for the next week or two are sorted.
