HI saskia - it might just be a did you know you missed your payment call. I got a few of those and said Yes I did know. No I couldn't make any payment and that I was contacting CCCS about a DMP and they would be hearing from CCCS shortly.

    It was all fine ;)

Just remember it's unfair to pay them over your other creditors so they will just have to wait for the DMP and lump it :p

Oh and don't give them your SOA over the phone as you're likely to forget something and then it will look like you have more money available. Tell them they have to wait as CCCS have all your figures and details.

    Afternoon all

some good news on here for some of us - looking at the list of 'nice' creditors has given me a bit of a lift - have had tons of missed calls from M&S money (cc 8k) but then today a letter arrived 'thanking me for my letter' (the cccs standard one offering token pymnt & i gave them £20) but insisting i call them immediatley as they will not correspond other than by phone!

so tonight as soon as i get in a going to call them - from everybodys experiance - will this be a 'demand money' type call?? ( at a stage where 1 payment missed & am waiting to see if cccs are going to take on my creditors miunus my hsbc bank debt (loooong story - basically i work for hsbc can't put them on the dmp)

don't know why but i feel really scared!!! i know probaly going to get a lot worse - maybe cos m&s are the first to contact me - i'll probably be a right tough old bird in a few months!!:rotfl:

    sas

You'll be fine Sas! .. I was freaky deaking about talking to HSBC .. But it was fine. (tho nothing is sorted yet :rolleyes:)

Also.. When they were asking me for money... fairly insistently.. (and reworded in various different ways haha!) ...

I just stuck to my guns and repeated the same thing.. over and over..

'Look.. I have NO money to pay you.. none.. nothing. Not just you.. ALL of my creditors. I am not trying to get out of paying you, I WANT to pay my debts.. to you and my other creditors.. I just CAN'T at the rate I was paying, The only thing that is stopping me at the moment.. is waiting for a reply from YOU to my letter, I AM trying to pay you'

They asked me had I thought about an MLA with them...:rolleyes:

I said no.. but took the number to make it appear I wasn't just brushing it off.

Just stand your ground Sas.. don't get talked into ANYTHING on the phone.

You can do it!!.. its not so bad.. Just stick to what you plan to say.

and!.. don't forget!.. they have heard it a trillion times before you came along.

    Hi Sas
Hopefully in the midst of my woes I can provide help to another DFW!!
Don't get too scared about what you describe as a 'demand money' type call. I have these from a number of creditors. The call centre people basically have a script which they have to follow which goes along the lines of:
"I'm phoning to inform you that you xxxx account with us is £xxx in debt. Can you make a payment today?"
When you say, no, sorry, I'm in a dmp/self-managed debt plan/IV etc they will either say ok and let you go (as per my experience with M&S) or deny all knowledge of receiving any letter / information, in which case you say you'll send the stuff out again (only do this once, mind), and so the dance continues... It's just a big joke really (albeit not a funny one). They try to get as much money from you, regardless of any payments you've already made, ahead of passing this over to a DCA. Put your best telephone voice on, don't take any crap, and you'll be fine!
    Best wishes

I'm actually thinking of asking for a reduced payment at the end of this month. Not because I have any specific crisis but because my dad died at the beginning of the month and I can't get my head round everything and keep stuffing up with money and then feel bad that family want me to come over, go out etc and I can't coz of money. Would that be really bad of me? It's just all doing my head in at the moment :o

Having lost a parent too, at an early age, I can totally understand how you feel. So, big hug to you :grouphug:. I really wouldn't entertain any feelings of 'guilt' about doing a reduced payment. Money is probably the last thing on your mind and bereavement always reminds you what is important in life (and it ain't money....).

Creditors are uncompassionate b*****ds at the best of times so speak to your dmp provider (if you have one) to see if they can handle things at their end. If you are doing your own dmp, and feel you can't handle creditor pressure at the moment, for example explaining this over the phone and keeping your composure, I would consider making up a more black and white excuse like, car failed MOT etc etc that they can't challenge. Yes, I know some people might knock me down for suggesting this, I just don't want NewlyWed to have more hassle than necessary.
    Take care
