Oo well done for still have money in your account! :T

(I'm hoping to get to that point haha)

anyway.. them not freezing interest charges.. I found this the other day.

    Dear Sir / Madam ,

    Re ACCOUNT NUMBER:

Thank you for your letter of xx/xx/xx concerning the above account. I/We am/are sorry that you feel unable to suspend interest charges on the above account.

The majority of our other creditors have agreed to the offer of payment and agreed to suspend any interest charges still accruing. They have accepted that to continue to charge interest would not assist in my/our present financial difficulties, and can only serve to increase my/our total debt.

As you are aware, I/we have already paid considerable sums in interest to our account. If interest charges continue, the monthly installments I/we are paying will not even cover that interest. Also the co-operation of my/our other creditors who have agreed to freeze interest already would be put at risk.

I/We would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider your decision not to freeze the interest. This would mean that the monthly payments I/we make would actually reduce the balance outstanding to your company.

I/We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

    Yours Sincerely

    Name (type don't sign)
Thanks Eupho :T In all my time of trawling this site I've never seen that later before so that's brilliant!!! I'll give it a go.

I forgot to mention the NatWest refund was by cheque as credit card was paid off earlier this year thanks to my wonderful Mum!

Thanks for the link Eupho regarding checking numbers that have called, I imagine I will be needing that very soon, I am a couple of days overdue with HSBC CC card and had 8 missed calls off them yesterday ( I wasn't in to answer them anyway ) but I will be sending all our creditors a letter with a token payment this weekend, so they at least are aware of the situation, shall I send them recorded delivery, if so how much is this service nowadays?

  • Hi

Is there a letter template around that asks the creditors to hold action on your account while you are in the process of setting up a DMP

    Hi

Is there a letter template around that asks the creditors to hold action on your account while you are in the process of setting up a DMP

    Hi Scouselad

You could adapt this one from National Debtline..

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/temp/2389_91511.pdf

I think most of the (free) debt charities, such as CCCS, PayPlan et all, advise that you send a token payment to each of your creditors in the meantime to show willingness to pay, even if this is just £1.

    Best wishes

    Hi All

I just wanted to let you know that I have successfully managed to reclaim bank charges from Abbey - letter confirming refund has been received today :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

Details as posted on the bank charges success thread:

    Bank: Abbey
    Amount Reclaimed: £1459.00

    Amount they paid: £1459.00
How long did it take: claim submitted 17/03/09
Result received: 22/05/09 [how quick was that!]
The story: We are currently in a debt management plan with CCCS and Abbey were aware of that given that the plan included an old overdraft with them. We provided additional evidence under the hardship criteria as requested by Abbey. Received regular updates that they were looking into claim and received decision letter today. All of the money will pay off the outstanding balance owed to Abbey so whilst I cant run off to the shops  it will help to reduce our overall debt. :T

Thank you so much MSE and everyone who has helped me on this forum - I now have the confidence to approach HSBC to reclaim for hubby's bank charges. I doubt that it will be resolved as quickly as with the Abbey (having read some other postings about HSBC) but I can only try.

Keep going everyone - every little helps ;)

Are doing your own DMP Eupho or going through CCCS?

    On my own

    haha..
I moved my bank account.. transferred my 'good' creditors. Cancelled my 'bad' creditors payments. Sent my letters and token payments off.. (last week) .. and am 'semi' armed and ready for their reactions.

I have been gathering template letters.. and reading and reading and reeeading.. experiences and great advice on the forums here.

(but I am crapping myself) ;):rotfl:
