Hi Everyone
I was accepted today for a DMP through National Debtline, the info pack is in the post so I will be spending my weekend filling in all of my creditor details etc, anyway I was told that the process takes around 2 weeks to complete, I have a few payments coming up early next week which I can't meet in full.
Shoud I write to the creditors involved asking them to put a hold on my account while the DMP is in the process of getting set up ? if so does anybody have a good template for doing this, also has anyone any experience of a creditor holding action for 28days without constant harrasement.
Thanks in advanceDMP mutual support thread member:3270 -

Hmmm.. I didn't know I could claim charges too.. Old charges? Or charges I might get from now? .. or just any?..
Does it affect the DMP you think?
questions questions questions.. :rotfl:
I hope this info helps but a while after being on a DMP i have reclaimed around 9000 in charges and PPI it has made no difference in payments on DMP:D. That is my experience so i will continue to reclaim and send complaints etc when necessary
I do have problems with HFC/weightmans but that would be the same if i had not tried to reclaim;)“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -

Hi - how did this work, do they credit the money back on to the account where the debt is, or do they send you a cheque which you can give to the DMP to divvy up around all of them?
I have a loan with Egg which I have now stopped paying the PPI on, but I applied for a loan without it, and it was referred. I was then told I could have the money if I took the PPI, which i have since found out is just one of their hard-sell tactics!! I don't think it'll be a lot, I only paid it for a year on a 7 year loan.. but every pound helps right?!Debt Free and Very Very Proud! - DMP mutual support member 315

Hi
In my case all refunded money was to the outstanding debt with the creditor. Which ultimately reduces the outstanding debt.
Jemima i think you may need some good advice about PPI, have you been to the PPI board?“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -

Brill, thanks for that, that's where I'd want the money to go, rather than to anything else.
I've not started the process yet but will go to the PPI board before I do anything! I just dug out the docs over the last couple of weeks to get started on sorting my finances out, and from reading martin's articles on PPI it suggests I've been missold.
The difficulty is the fact that I did manage to get them to remove it from the loan, but I know I wasn't credited back the amount that I had already paid towards it. I think it was also front loaded, if I've done my sums right!! but I need to get a statement from egg.Debt Free and Very Very Proud! - DMP mutual support member 315

I was getting a bit down after checking my current statement balances and finding out that Barclaycard and Lloyds are still charging me interest although all the others seem to have stopped.... Anyway got home to 3 lots of nice post yesterday..
1. Refund of NatWest CC charges £78
2. Cheque from Royal Mail for parcel they lost £36
3. Free Daily Mail family and friends rail card I read about on here!

Oo well done for still have money in your account! :T
(I'm hoping to get to that point haha)
anyway.. them not freezing interest charges.. I found this the other day.
Dear Sir / Madam ,
Re ACCOUNT NUMBER:
Thank you for your letter of xx/xx/xx concerning the above account. I/We am/are sorry that you feel unable to suspend interest charges on the above account.
The majority of our other creditors have agreed to the offer of payment and agreed to suspend any interest charges still accruing. They have accepted that to continue to charge interest would not assist in my/our present financial difficulties, and can only serve to increase my/our total debt.
As you are aware, I/we have already paid considerable sums in interest to our account. If interest charges continue, the monthly installments I/we are paying will not even cover that interest. Also the co-operation of my/our other creditors who have agreed to freeze interest already would be put at risk.
I/We would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider your decision not to freeze the interest. This would mean that the monthly payments I/we make would actually reduce the balance outstanding to your company.
I/We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours Sincerely
