    haha..
I moved my bank account.. transferred my 'good' creditors. Cancelled my 'bad' creditors payments. Sent my letters and token payments off.. (last week) .. and am 'semi' armed and ready for their reactions.

I have been gathering template letters.. and reading and reading and reeeading.. experiences and great advice on the forums here.

(but I am crapping myself) ;):rotfl:

I have to say I am very tempted to go it alone ( with help from hubby ) as I am too impatient and want to get letters out and payments made etc, I think I will have a good think tonight and decide whether or not to be brave like you!!! ( I know how you feel being scared, I keep having nose bleeds and recently got told I have high blood pressure, so I really do need to teach myself how to relax, I am not helping the situation being a nervous wreck )!!!

Aawww.. not good about the high blood pressure/nose bleeds.

I am trying REALLY hard to keep 'calm' .. personally I want to freak out.. (really!) .. Im soo scared of it all.

BUT!... I keep talking to myself like I would if it were to a friend in the this situation..
In that.. one day.. this will all be over.. one day we will look back at this and think.. hmm now THAT was a big mistake never to repeat. It will be a crappy memory. .. But it HAS to be done.. or we will be held hostage with our debts forever.
Soo.. deep breaths.. calm down.. it has to be done.. So stop bleating and get on with it! ... (that's what I tell myself.. not saying that to you haha ;)

Also knowing (in the paper the other day) .. That JUST 'National Debt line' .. is expecting 4 MILLION people this year. That it has 800 calls a day.. and 1600 more people trying to get help too!.. has helped me.

If that's only National debt line.. what about Payplan.. CCCS.. and ALLLLLLL the others?? .. There must be sooo sooo many people in this situation. AND!!! What about all the people that haven't even HAD their light bulb moment yet?

You (and me) .. are only ONE of those people. Just little fish.
From my rubbish calculations (and very bad maths).. I think it seems like half the population of the UK is in a similar situation.. ;)

I was thinking yesterday.. If you could walk through town.. and see little arrows about everyone's heads.. that said something like.. *In Deep debt* ..

I wonder how MANY arrows we would see as we walked along? ... LOOOOOOADS I betcha!

Soo.. it has to be done.

Oh.. now I forgot what I was going to say.. oh yeah!..

The newspaper article was saying that the debt help places were maybe going to start guiding people to do their own DMPs.. because they just cannot cope with it all.

AND!.. I read.. doing it yourself makes it a little more flexible for you. .. There are template letters all over the place here.. and from what I can see.. there are soooooo MANY people who have been/seen/done ALL I am about to do.

and are still alive and happy.. ;)

The other thing too.. about friends.

I know that if I was going through all this for a friend.. helping them do their DMP.. I KNOW I would be 'On the ball' .. fired and ready.. With template letters ready go... and ready to fight back.. not be bullied.. not be scared.

BUT!.. because it's me.. and MY problem.. I'm a chicken.

I did put this on my Diary thing..

But I thought I would put it here in case it helps anyone else.. (or you tell me I can't have an ISA .. or you see a flaw in my plan I missed).. :rotfl:

    ----
Today too I am opening ANOTHER bank account.

I have already opened a new 'safe' account.. (few weeks ago) and moved all my household/wages stuff on to that one.

It has a saving account I can stash spare money into .. and an ISA account I opened.. (as yet with virtually nothing it in) ... I was hoping to use those extra accounts to help me budget money better by dividing it up. (those are all with SMILE.. and I can see the balances all online at the same time together)

Anyway.. the other (4th) account I'm opening now.. is a basic Cashminder account with the Co-op..

Funnily enough.. I tried to open a current account with them and got refused.. (hence getting basic Cash minder account now) ...YET!... 3 days before I had applied to get and ISA account with SMILE... and got accepted.

Anyway.. I dunno if I am allowed an ISA? ... I dont care what it IS.. I just wanted something else I could split money into.

Sooo.. I am about to have 4 accounts.

SMILE ~ as my wages/ household DD bills etc account. (one not to 'spend from' .. only to transfer money from)

Savings account - that I want to use for shopping/petrol/general spending. (have to draw the cash out tho.. cant use the (link) card as a debt)

ISA ~ for flinging in dribs and drabs to save towards paying extra to my creditors.. and/or saving towards 'Full and Final' settlements.

and the 4th (Basic cash minder) which has standing order and online banking option.. to use ONLY for paying my DMP payments. I will keep paying money in there each month.. and set each of my creditors up with a Standing Order.

Hey!.. I read yesterday (on here) .. That its a good idea to pay them by SO .. because the payment is automatic.. they cannot refuse to cash it.. (or whatever)

Just as I started to type this, the song " stand by me " starts playing on the radio whoooooooo spooky lol, I have opened an account with Abbey and it's got an Electon card with it, not the best but so far not had any trouble using it. My hubby keeps ringing me asking what his pin number is, so told him to change to the same one he had at HSBC then don't get confused. I am definately going to try and arrange my own DMP, with the amount of advice peeps have posted on this forum I am sure I will be fine. You seem very organised and on top of things :T and you must be so proud of yourself, are you dealing with this alone or do you have a partner ?( hope u dont think i am being nosey ) its just it upsets me to read on here people having to deal with stress like debt all alone. Just an update on my mobile I have had 4 missed calls off HSBC in just over 2 hours

    Hello fellow dmp'ers!!

I've just recd my dmp from cccs - but am really thinking of doing it myself- i like to be in control ( ha ha - considering how much debt we're in - - don't ask about what has happened over the last 5 years - such a long story.............)

have sent off token payments to all my creditors cept HSBC and thats because i work for them and cannot default on my loan & cc and am hoping (!!!) that they will give me a low interest loan to sort them out -- now --i know your'e all going to scream at me not take on more debt BUT i have no other option unless i fancy getting fired - which needless to say will not help matters! & have done my figures a 1000 times and it will work.

but i feel like its the 'calm before the storm' - i keep reading on here bout all the calls people receive and i must admit to being a bit scared - is it best to talk to them once & then just liase by letter? i spose i could always ignore those '0800' nos - but would that make it worse?

please don't all think i'm a city type banker who has lived the good life -far from it - we're just a normal couple - who thought living off credit would be a good idea & putting IVF treatment (circa £45k) on loans & cc a good idea.

but i do feel strangely positive for the first time in ages - am actually taking my/ our heads out of the sand and dealing with these debts and am proud to be doing so!!

    sorry for the ramble!

    Hey Saskia

Well done on taking charge and sorting out a DMP - the thought of going into a DMP is very scary but as you're finding, once you've done it, it actually brings a great sense of relief.

I wouldn't get too worked up about the so-called 'storm' you are waiting for. To be honest my worst creditor has been your employer, HSBC, but presumably a) as an employee and b) if you get that low interest loan, they won't be bothering you too much! That's the theory anyway. As you are expecting, people will write advise you not to take on more debt (it's actually against the CCCS DMP agreement) but if it's your only option as employee I guess it's not as clear cut as normal.

    Also..
    Hello to Eupho
Dividing your money up really does make things simpler. I also have a standard savings account and ISA - try to keep the most money in my ISA account as it has the best interest. May only be a few pounds a year but it all helps!

    Best wishes

Nope I am foot loose and fancy free..

well.. brassic and single anyway.. :rotfl:

As for doing your own DMP .. Maybe you should go for it.. If debt management comps are (possibly) going to be leading people that way anyway..

Maybe you would get headed that way? .. Thats what happened to me.. (because I didnt have enough surplus income for them to take me on They gave me all the info, sent me a pack thing. . (gave me a case number) and told me I could still call for advice etc.. and sent me on my merry way.

AND.. if you have read on here.. lots of people ON debt management DMPs have/are deciding to to come off and do it themselves. (for better control of what's going on)

I was thinking too.. at least if you are doing it yourself.. you can act on things immediately if needs be.. instead of waiting about for them to get through all the countless cases before they come back to yours. (I thats how it works assume anyway)

For me.. the way I am trying to see it.. Is if I can at least ride on the next month or so.. I will be fine. (I HOPE!!)

I think it's just going to be that intial flurry of calls letter/threats/offers blah blah blah.. until it all settles down.

    (I HOPE!)

haha.. watch me come back here bawling my eyes out.. :rotfl:

Oh and as for ignoring calls..

Thats what I am doing at the moment. When I wrote to them (the first letter) .. I asked that they correspond with me only in writing. (you CAN ask that)

So far.. the only people to have called me (every hour! for the last weekish?) is HSBC.

I'm not talking to ANYONE on the phone until I get some responses.. and even then.. I'm not sure I'm going too.

Oh let me post something I found last night.

    1sec..
