Having a crap day today. Letting it all get on top of me. Have sent of CCCS stuff and will start DMP on 1st May. I was feeling really positive and I think it all just hit me this morning. Also got statements from EDF - owe £600 odd for gas and £200 odd for electric, despite paying £150 a month!
Sorry, just feeling sorry for myself and need a rant.

I'm in Surrey too, isn't it a lovely sunny day. Sorry to hear that you're having a down day. You're still very new to all this, and it is draining. The positivness will return, I promise.
Take care MD xxFinally brave enough to deal with my debts!CCCS DMP - 1.4.2009Couldn't have done it without the guys on the DMP Mutual Support Thread.:T :T :T :TDMP Support Member 2550 -
Thanks Massivedebts. Yes, it is a lovely day. Taking the kids out soon, so hopefully will take my mind off things.
Where abouts in Surrey are you?

Hi Worried of Surrey
I see MassiveDebts is providing the emotional support at the mo, so thought I'd help with the practicalities!!
You've probably already thought of this, but have you asked EDF to check that you actually owe this amount? Is is an estimated bill or a verified one? Might be worth ringing them with a reading to see if this changes your bill. I know that EDF got my bill wrong on a number of occasions (before I changed to Scottish Power!). If it turns out to be correct, speak to them about how you can gradually get your account back to zero. One thing MoneySavingsExpert and these forums have taught me is that you must sort out your priority debts first - which would include gas and electricity. I'm sure this can be sorted - just communicate with them and they should be fine...
A number of regular contributors on this thread started our DMPs on 1st April 2009, so there's lots of support here for you - we all know what you're going through. I had the collywobbles (excuse spelling) before my DMP was set up and I still have bad days as it's still early days, but the relief I feel to have money left for essentials (normally long gone by the 8th of the month) is amazing, and you'll get to this point too.
Enjoy the sunshine with your kids - like you say, will take your mind off things - and is FREEE!!!!
All the best

Thanks Devongirl. One of the bills is verified (unfortunately the larger one!). I will take a reading of the electricity shortly and then give them a call.
I too am looking forward to the days when I don't have to worry about the essentials. I don't mind being broke, but hate the worry of not having enough for food etc.
Thanks again to you and massivedebts. Feel better already!
ps - I did get your PM MD and sent one back.

I have noticed on my GUS statements that they are charging me £12 late payment fees  I had a refund not so long back so can't understand why they are still charging meBeing arsey thats what it is with the ppi reclaiming, I am sure of it you know.
They wrote back saying they cannot locate my CCA so letter in the post tomorrow to persuade them nicely to stop charging me £12 when my DMP payments are £10 otherwise will have to 'consider alternative solutions'
I haven't quite thought out what that is yet but I know I won't be paying into minus every month thats for sure.
Am still having major hassle from RBS:mad:, they have now passed my accounts to Triton Credit who are asking for the full amount in the next 7 days, (yeah I'll just give them the stash I've got under the bed:rotfl::rotfl:), and reminding me of the "very serious situation I am in"
I know they're in house anyway, why do creditors try to frighten us into thinking they've got an outside agency involved, so I have just wrote back telling them where to go.
If only they were credit card accounts instead of bank accounts I would request the CCA.........
OH is having the same problem regarding Halifax(intelligent Finance), and since BOS have taken over Marbles the endless phone calls have started up again from them as well.
So all in all things not going as calmly as they were really, I suppose thats the way it goes:rolleyes:
Hope everyone else is doing ok and managing to cope ok with the stress.:beer:DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080 -
I can't believe it's the 8th of the month and I still have money in my account! May it continue.....Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.0

I asked this on another thread but there's been no answer, could anyone here help me?
Why are over payments dodgy on a DMP? I'm counting on being able to make extra payments when I can get the work / sell things..... is this not a good idea? CCCS said that I could do this - is there a reason why I shouldn't?
Thanks

Hi,
There are a couple reasons as far as I can see.
a. If you overpay on a regular basis your creditors get used to it and want that payment all the time
b. We are with Payplan, but I assume its the same with CCCS, but we cannot pay just one creditor, it would seem that you are favouring that creditor if you overpay, and your other creditors could kick up a stink, and should they have stopped interest charges, then they may start adding them again.
We are in the same situation, and we try to save any extra money, so when we get close to the end of our DMP, we may be able to offer full and final payments to our creditors. Plus its nice to have some spare cash in case of emergencies.
