  • Hi all,
After receiving letters + phonecalls from Natwest about not receiving any paperwork from CCCS (despite it being sent 3 times!!) I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I wrote a polite but firm letter of complaint to the customer relations unit and received a response after 3 days, saying they are going to look into the complaint and respond by the 28th April. Don't know if I have done the right thing or opened up a can of worms, but I just could not deal with their incompetence and rudeness anymore...plus the fact that the CCCS debt remedy tool is lnked to the Natwest site!!!
I'm always in the brown stuff (marmite)....only the depth varies!!! :rotfl:

Hi, I have had dealings with them, 2 x CC's & 2 x loans. Been on a DMP for nearly 3 years now and still getting charged interest on all of them !!! TBH they have been easily the worst of our creditors to deal with.

Also have debts with Egg ( interest frozen), Cap One (interest frozen ) & MBNA who have reduced interest to 3.5%.

    Hope this helps

    Clucky,

    Hi,

I have a CC with Lloyds and an overdraft of £500.....we have been on a DMP for 14 months and they still charging interest on the CC. I managed to get them to stop the interest on the overdraft just last month, but we have now had to reduce our DMP payments due to hubbys working less hours, so I fully expect them to start again. I have to agree with c7sdus and also say that they are the worst creditors to deal with.

  • Morning all!
I've got a rather stressed hubby after receiving his MBNA statement, so I said I would ask the guys who know it all (:A) if this was normal.
His Mbna cc was on 0% interest paying £25 min payment pre DMP. We hev now offered £37 payment to which they have said NO...........nice people that they are . Anyway he has been charged this month £12 default fee and £67 interest, is this normal? His point is that it they keep charging at this rate we'll end up owing £1000s more than we ever did. I have told him that Mbna are renowned for being a***holes and that I think they may stop the interest/charges after a few months of DMP and that there is a way that we may be able to claim the money back. Can someone please reassure me, he's not a happy bunny at the moment and I feel that it is all my fault as I led us to this DMP path.
    Thanks guys

Finally brave enough to deal with my debts! :D

  • Just to reassure you, this is COMPLETELY normal for MBNA, they are ar*eholes! Exactly the same happened to me, they were by far my worst creditor. I started my DMP last August and only in december did they freeze interest despite me losing my job and only being able to pay £1 a month.

They racked on the interest, the late fees then when they took me over the limit, racked on over limit fees too!

The light at the end of all this is that when they FINALLY agreed to freeze interest and all charges, I complained and the upshot is it's possible to get those refunded eventually.

Your OH is right that your debt will increase and that's really disheartening, BUT it's only temporary while they try to push you into paying what you can't afford. Keep strong on this one because it will pass but it takes a few months.

I hope that helps. I am heading out shortly but will look up the letters I sent and send you copies if you'd like- when you talk to them, is it still just the 'usual' call centre or are you through to the specialist debt section?
  • Oh, and I see that you've only just started your DMP. Only just noticed that- so what I said above... you have to bite the bullet and stay strong on it for a few months, at the moment they're trying to force you to do what they want....

Hi all DMP with CCCS started 1/4/09 - joint with O/H. Ist payment made to CCCS and letters sent. Now starting to get trickle of letters from creditors on their resonses to our "3rd party" payments. Some okay some not. Others seem to be ignoring. What is the point of them persuing relentlessly, when it's obvious you don't have the money! As if you would go through all that a DMP entails just to avoid paying. As said in earlier threads, it's high time the goverment did more to stop them refusing DMP s and still adding charges. It's as if Mr Brown still don't get how bad it all is?
Best advice I can give is change your phone number! best thing we did. They don't charge if you have a good reason - we had used our as a business number also and when that ceased we didn't want business related calls, but it also stopped the creditors. BT didn't check if we had a business! If you do have to call a creditor - as i had to with Egg to get them to listen! - use 141 before you dial and you have every right not to give out your number and to not be contacted by phone.
We are due to be debt free in 7 years through the DMP.
I agree with other posters, it's nice to know when you do spend money it's yours and when they tell you they will close your accounts and you won't have access to credit anymore it actually makes you feel happy!
Sorry for the long post - been storing it up for a while!
    Keep going everyone

  • Hi everyone,

I havnt been on here for as while as sadly been struggling with a few things in life other than just money.

Anyway, we are starting to hear from all our creditors now we are in the 2nd month of our DMP.

I need to ask a few questions, Nationwide loan have sent a letter saying KPR DCA are now dealing with the debt. Shoud I contact KPR and tell them about the DMP?

Also MBNA CC and NW CC are sending us letteres saying they want full payment NOW. They havnt said anythiong about the DMP although I know they have received payment.

Any ideas what I should do?

My head is a mess at the moment and all I want to do is block everything out.
