I deal mostly with the debt BUT i haven't written for authority so can't talk in detail to them about it! If we really needed to talk to one of hubs creditors I would make him call and give him instructions (have had to do this a couple of times).

I know it's not ideal and i can imagine how frustrating it must be when you've actually got authority but maybe you could make OH phone??

We've started the process today with CCCS for the DMP and I have some questions for you knowledgeable people!

    1) By selling loads of things and using my over draft (as normal) I can pay the minimum payments this month.
    2) How long do the CoOp take after filling out the application form for a new bank account.
    3) When do I start telling the creditors?
    4) If I requested the pack today when is it likely to start?

Feeling a little better every hour!

I'm not too sure as I'm fairly new to it and also didn't exactly do it this way but i think the advice is to NOT pay the full minimum to your creditors this month. To only pay a token amount such as £1 (think i did £10 or £20 to some of mine as i hadn't found this place for advice then and felt too strange doing £1. Plus did it over the phone not by letter!). So I would write a letter to them all with a £1 payment (there's a template and info of how to do this on this thread).

As for the others things not sure I'm afraid. Bank account shouldn't take long at all. CCCS seems to take different times for people but you should be able to start in May i would imagine (seems CCCS start 1st of the month, Payplan don't seem to do it this way!)

Sorry if any of this is wrong. Sure someone will correct it soon enough if it is!

Just to update those who also have debts with HSBC - HSBC have finally stopped phoning me! Possibly because they have sent me documents about transferring my OD and personal loan into a Managed Loan. I've seen loads of bad press about these loans and rang CCCS for their advice. Counsellor said she would strongly recommend not taking up the managed loan (not least because the monthly payment would be more than CCCS have budgeted for them) as they can lead to all sorts of problems with interest racking up etc. So I'm taking their advice, ignoring the loan offer, which will probably lead to a re-start in phonecalls GRRR  but will likely lead to them transferring my £7k to a DMC, I think it's Metropolis, who are in turn more likely to accept the CCCS offer instead. In the meantime I've got to keep paying my monthly payment.

Anyway, thought I'd pass this on to those who are in a similar situation with HSBC...

I love the comments on this page - especially from the new DMP'ers! Enjoy the fact that we now have accounts in credit!!!! albeit in our new basic bank accounts! I know we can do it!! :T :T

    DG

Glad to hear from someone else who started today and is in the same boat with HSBC - I was about to call CCCS myself about the managed loan letter, did they just advise to ignore it? If transfering it to a DMC stops them ringing my mobile every 5 minutes then it'll be worth it!

Its fab seeing a bank account in credit for a change isn't it? I almost had a heart attack with excitement today when I checked my new abbey account and there was still money left in there at this stage of the month! I feel so much better for dealing with my debt, life is on the up finally and I'm not having to suffer in silence :D
    :j Only 5 years until I'm debt free! :j

Hi, thanks for that. Yes we do do that - but he works and sleeps funny hours so it can be difficult to coordinate, and it has to be me that speaks to them after he has cleared security because he doesn't have a clue and just gets really cross! (not that I'm doing much better at the moment!)

After getting all wound up I have decided to do it all by letter - he can sign them when he gets home and I'll post them off tomorrow. Lets see how that goes!

Hi all Good luck to all starting DMPS today,:j :j :j :j
Whens the party it's all quiet so far:beer:

Hey Toffee Penny I know what you mean about taking a break from the whole debt thing, my Oh was getting a bt fed up of me being on here every night sometimes till after midnight:rolleyes:

Still it's good to check in every now and again.

In answer to your question CCCS didn't really work out my our budget, I did it then just split everything down the middle. It doesn't really work like that of course, we just pool our resources and pay everything equally, so that means OH pays more than me but it was easier to work it out that way.

Anyway keep your chin up everyone and keep supporting each other.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, it's a great help.

I'll have a look for the template, should I mention CCCS whilst I'm trying to move banks etc. or should I wait till after I've moved banks and got wages etc moved.

Such a weight off isn't it when you have a plan!

    Hi all,

Well I'm into the 2nd month of my DMP and its good news and bad news. MBNA (loan + CC) were actually the first to accept the plan. They did use AEGIS at first who contacted me up to 10 times a day, but when I phoned MBNA themselves and explained I was going through CCCS they accepted almost immediately. I know thats not always the case with MBNA, just wanted to share how things went with me.
Halifax CC have just sent me a letter saying they will accept the reduced payments on the condition I don't use my card for further purchases....that sounds like a fair deal to me! ;)
Natwest, NastyWest, NitwitWest, NickNackPaddywackWest (I aim to find a new name for them everyday!!) are being the ultimate of (insert rude word here). Denying all knowledge of CCCS paperwork, which has now been sent 3 times!!!!
Sainsbury's CC were originally the quiet one, but for the past 2 days I've had up to 5 calls on my mobile a day. CCCS say that anything RBOS owned tend to be the most difficult, so looks like I'm in for a rough ride for the forseeable future. :(

Don't mean to be pedantic, but RBS are quite difficult I believe, but BOS (who I think Halifax, Sainsburys et al belong to) aren't too bad. I know, I get confused as well...

D4mn it!! You are indeed correct! Just checked and the have charged me both interest and charge for last month's over od and have yet again put me over my od limit! so i am sure to get the same again next month and it will increase each month! what a stupid vicious circle they have created!! tbh i don't really care as they will still regardless get the same payplan payment each month! but why why why do they do it? How does it help them OR me?

Rant over! Ta MSC!! And ta VERY much for nothing Natwest!

OK. So I have a question! Is it worth me paying enough in now to at least cover the charge next month? Just this once? then at least it should stay within the od and the payplan payment will cover the interest at least. and it will start very slowly to get paid off? I'm sick of it! and am going to try and claim back charges soon anyway!

What do you think? Would you do it? It grates me to do it, but this is simply ridiculous!!!

It is ridiculous and i am having exactly the same experience - personally if it takes me couple of extra months of DMP payments to avoid paying fatwest now then so be it! if they realise you can cover the charges once they will expect you to do it all the time.

First payment went to CCCS today :j no more creditors have come on board yet and will be interesting to see if any of those that have, have a problem not receiving their CCCS pmnt till 25th of the month! Have received a letter from Egg loan (or was it CC??? ) to say account going to DCA...about time:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm not sure i can stick around for the party:D I'm caning the overtime while i can and working 11 hour shifts at the moment (hubby is bk on short, short hours!!! ) so i'm off to bed soon! Have fun xxxxx
