At the beginning I made sure that they only had my home number, and removed my mobile (and more importantly) my work number. No probs there, and with caller id on the phone (it's digital) I know the last 20 odd people who have phoned. And some did phone on the hour every hour when I was at work. It is all automated though.
I answered calls when I was present, and most of the time they listened to me, and agreed to hold the calls for a few days till they had a response from the DMP company. A lot of the time they said they'd had no contact from them, so I just asked PP to resend the information to them.
Yes it was a bit stressful at first, but once you get the idea that they just want their money (And not the fact that you are on a DMP, they don't know that) it's not so bad. They're only human, after all...
I do wonder if it helps to talk to them, as otherwise it could be viewed that I was ignoring or avoiding them. It has to be said though that I've sent them no communication by post, as some people may have done.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
I wish I could change my number, unfortunately its my business number too so its not that easy for me :-(0

Do you ever get days where you think, bring it on, im up for a conversation with you creditors. I find half of ours just ignore me when I say DMP esp Next today.0

Guys & Galls
If yoru just starting out and getting hit with creditors, Talk to them, dont ignore. their calls. Chances are if you let them know the score and keep telling them DMP they will eventually get the message and stop calling. Ignoring them just makes them keep calling.
We did this with Aegis, in the end, speaking to them seemed to have worked, now we havnt heard fromt heard from them for 2 weeks.
Also, we are finding creditors have realised were in financial !!!!!! and accept were not pulling their chain. they can see the token payments and, as long as they are consistant you will get beyond the call centre agents,a nd onto the accoutn managers who fromour experience have all been fine with our situation, the fact they can see regular payments and, in our case, are waiting for the I & E reports.
MBNA actually called today and asked for help as Payplan were giving them the cold shoulder and dragging their heals a bit. ( in the end, we emailed MBNA our I & E as a guide they agreed they will work off until the official one arrives later this week.
All our creditors that we have spoken to reciently have either been understanding and informative about the whole proceedure, or helpful and ( on the surface anyway ) polite.
Remember, the golden rule "they cannot have what you havn't got". stick to that, dont loose yoru temper or wind them up too much and things will blow over.
We have been telling our creditors not to call the house as we are never in, and only use the phone for emergencys or family calls. And, if they want to speak to us, to use our mobiles ( that way we can ignore the odd one if were driving with a legit excuse ). This seems to be starting to work too.
Keep smiling, its not worth getting upset / anoyed over, and it will soon be over.LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

If your creditors think you are still applying for credit, they will more than likely kick up a fuss.
I would contact your DMP provider for advice on this.
Cocker:)The creditors will think yeah right I am trying it on. I have however phoned Vanquis and told them I dont want a card and that has been stopped before its started. I cant prove the fraud thing I know now whats happened (bit delicate to put on here) its a quidco thing with a family member thought they could put in my details to obtain and get the cashback, thought there would be no hassle.
Will have to try and sort this now just praying it has no impact on creditors accepting the DMP or will payplan kick up the stink.
xx
Hi anyone got any advice on this further,or am I worrying over nothing. Do you suppose I could say I was getting hassled and applied thinking I could pay off (although this is not that at all)

I'm really pleased that you have managed to talk to decent human beings!:j
Unfortunately the people we have tried to talk to have either been unpleasant and unhelpful or have made promises that they just haven't kept
It's different strokes for different folks I guess but after weeks of getting nowhere I just feel more comfortable having a written copy of everything I, and the creditors, have said. Plus my shiny new folder wouldn't have anything to do if I did it all over the phone
Glad that things are working out for you though,

Hi Bex, I would just be totally honest with Payplan and tell them what's happened. You could end up making more problems if you try and cover up what someone else has done. I'm sure it's nothing that they haven't heard before anyway - they seem to be used to hearing most everything.

Think they may be assuming it starts this month and not may tho, so that should be an interesting phone call lol. Anyone dealt with blair oliver and scott at all? Think they are HBOS's in house guys. Its excellent to see even more newbies!

Hi Princess
All three of my HBOS accounts (2 CCs & a loan) have been passed to Blair Oliver Scott (BOS), typical of HBOS they didn't pass on the fact that we were on a DMP. So BOS phoned us demanding full payment. However once I phoned them and explained everything i.e payment amounts and CCCS ref they were happy. They also said that they woulf be open to F&F offers when we have the means to do so and we can spread it over three months. So by all accounts they seem ok at the moment.:rolleyes:LBM: 20/01/09 Total Debt: £104,050Curr Bal (25/08/12): £46,109 (55.6% Paid):jDMP Start Date: 01/03/090 -
