    Hi Rachelfleur,
I'm a newbie myself but I filled in the Debt Remedy online tool on the CCCS website and as it suggested a DMP, I ticked the online box to go ahead. Within about 5 days, I had received a letter from CCCS which included my agreement with them - which I need to send back with proof of salary and creditors' statements and notification of debt letter - which goes to all creditors. I have already sent of a token payment of £2 to each creditor with a letter explaining that I am in financial difficulty and am arranging a DMP with CCCS and asking them to accept my token payment as a willing gesture that I still wish to deal with my debts.

I read on another post that if you send back all the info to CCCS before the 10th of the month, then they start taking your first payment on the following 1st - I don't think I will get all my latest statements in time so am planning to start my DMP on 1st May which gives me time to shore up my emergency fund.

    Hope that helps.
Welcome to the thread - the guys here are absolutely fab and helpful and you won't find a more supportive non-judgemental group.
    :D

    Hi Rachaelfleur

You are in the right place for advice, I'm with the CCCs so I'll tell you what happened with me.

CCCS will go through a budget with you and determine what you can afford.

They will advise that you send token payments only (usually £1) while they send you a welcome pack. You will also get a reference number.

The pack will contain letters you copy and send to your creditors stating that you are going on a DMP.

Send the signed declaration plus proof of income and what you owe and to whom ( account numbers) to CCCS, they should also have told you what date to send first payment.

From first contact until first payment mine was approx 3-6 weeks.

If anyone rings tell them you are going on a DMP and quote the reference number. DON'T give them security information to access your account, they'll only try to hassale you, just hang up when they have the CCCs info.

    Hi stOlli

We are exactly the same No phonecalls - hopefully its because they are dealing with the DMP or its the calm before the storm - sorry thats not very reassuring - but its so great not to have the calls!

    Olliex

I have a digital type phone that has caller display, and notes about the last 30 odd callers. I haven't received any calls for about a week now (I was getting around 10 a day). I feel like ringing them up for a chat. I feel unloved. *sniff*

And what a bright sunny one it is too!..............Well it is in Surrey, I believe some areas have snow!>>>>OOER>>>.
Anyway, thanks for all your replies re tracking postal orders, unfortunately because I didn't send 'special delivery' I am unable to track, however I have just looked at my HSBC account on line and they've credited my £1 to our account, so looks like it's all about to kick off any day now.
Enjoy your days, welcome to RF, nice of you to join us, we're having a party on the 1st, if you're up for it!;)
    Take care

Thanks everyone for the info, you've been really helpful. I think I'm going to agree today with CCCS and get the ball rolling.

I take it you sent your creditors a cheque for £1? I don't own a cheque book, how do I get these payments to them?
Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.

My lever arch file is feeling a tad inferior now! :D I still love him (I mean it!) though :rotfl:

If it was me, I'd have a lever arch file (with dividers :o) - but OH insisted on keeping his filing cabinet. It's a nice wood effect two drawer one that sits inside the bottom of his wardrobe.

But it wasn't me that printed out labels for all the suspension tabs
