I do blame my creditors partly for the debt, but also understand that I'm at fault too. I look back now at where I was a year ago and wonder how I got in that position. I was very close to getting a secured loan a couple of years ago, and realise now I would never have been able to keep it up, as I had never budgeted correctly. It's only now since setting up the DMP and doing a real SOA that you take account of EVERYTHING!

I came off 0% balance transfer with MBNA in Feb 2009, and when I took it out I was fairly solvent, and I understood that after the 0% period was over it would revert back to my normal rate of 15% APR, however they are charging me 35% APR. Will this interst be frozen in my DMP?
Last months interest was £387.00 !!! any help please.....

Exactly same thing happened to me:eek: I rang MBNA's customer loyalty department before I contacted CCCS and got them to lower my APR (only to ~27%) but they did say it meant I couldn't spend any more on the card. It was a bit sneaky of me and since I've not had another statement since I spoke to them I'm not sure if they will honour it......

I'm not sure why I said I was being sneaky.... it was MBNA who hiked the APR to 34.9% with no warning!!! :rotfl:

OH was charged about £280 when we first started our DMP but MBNA have stopped interest now. It does take time, a few months at least, I think creditors just don't believe this could be a long term thing with reduced payments and that's why they might be so heavy during the first few months with letters/phone calls etc. They try to scare you into paying more.

They do seem to come round eventually although waiting for this to happen on a DMP seem to take its toll and is very frustrating when you see your balance go up instead of down.

    Hi Stolli
Have they now froze your interest via CCCS?

I remember seeing Martin on GMTV one day and seeing a link to this site. I couldn't believe the sheer volume of people talking so openly about their money worries, I was directed to the CCCS website and I have been on here ever since.

I must admit I am on here most nights just to check up on what has been said. It gets addictive this iste because there is so much info on it. It might seem sad to some, probably those who don't 'get' the internet but this site and the people on it have proven invaluable to me.

I am more confident, I still have my off days where I worry about creditors and debt but I feel better within myself. I don't feel like there is no way out, does that make sense? before we were paying and paying, mounting up the debt every month basically kidding ourselves that next month was going to be better and it never was.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, it might be a long way off but at least there is an end to it all. ;)

You're not sad, I was running the late shift again last night, and I was trawling through the thread to try and answer queries on here now, rather than me asking questions!

Very busy here this arvo, three pages worth of rambles? ;)

    Hello everyone. Another newbie here.

It's taken me around 10 days to read every single post in this thread so I feel I know a few of you quite well already!!

I feel a lot more confident since finding this thread and hope it can help me through the next however many years.

We made our first payment to our DMP via CCCS yesterday and I must say I feel very "excited" about the whole prospect and the future.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to everyone for now and hope you're all happy to have another DFW on board?

I will definitely fill you all in in a bit more detail tomorrow (when I have more time), but just wanted to introduce myself for the time being and say I think everyone on here is an inspiration to all of us lurkers out there.

Hi to you all, and I look forward to getting to "know you" all in the next decade or so...

ps, does anyone know how I go about changing my user/alias name?

    x

I'm not sure yet... My DMP doesn't start until 1st April so CCCS are still dealing with everything at the moment. If you want the direct number to MBNA's customer loyalty dept. let me know and I'll post it here
