Two consolidation loans to be exact, and when I went to close the card accounts they said 'ooh, it's always handy to have a card available for emergencies' and 'Tell you what, we'll reduce your interest rate to 10%'. Yes I was weak...

TP - I have noticed that I am in the minority on here, as Cocker says, I wonder if men tend not to talk about these things, and get into more of a mess?

    Hi Stolli
Have they now froze your interest via CCCS?

MBNA have stopped interest all 3 of my accounts for the next 12mths (I'm due them 20k or there about). They stopped interest as soon they recieved the paperwork from the CCCS.

Welcome emsmiff, this thread is full of lovely, supportive, knowledgeable people who all pull together and have a great sense of humour as well.

I'm waiting for my welcome pack so am a bit behind you but like you I am a bit excited (if also scared) about the future........

I don't know if you can change your username unless it is absolutely necessary - you could drop one of the forum guides a pm and ask.

    Jen x

Ah, thanks for your lovely reply Jen. I can't believe how lovely and friendly people are on this board, but I suppose it's the best way to be when everyone's in the same situation.

We filled out our debt assessment on the CCCS website beginning of Feb and made our first payment on 1st March. From reading this website I now think that maybe we should've delayed by a month but what's done is done and we're now just looking forward. We had a little bit of money put aside (£500) so have put this into an emergency fund should we need it.

We made token payments to all of our creditors last month (5 in total) and as yet haven't heard anything from any of them. I'm sure this is probably the calm before the storm, but so far so good! Am a little bit worried about the Northern Rock threads that have come up, but all situations are different and I have a husband that works in sales who can hopefully play them at their own game!!

After following this thread I really do feel a lot more confident in dealing with creditors and can't thank you guys enough for that.

Again, I would like to say hi and thanks for all for giving us the hope and confidence to get where we are today.

  • Hi all, am still fairly newbie on the whole dmp thing and as we are not starting til may it all still feels like a faraway dream!
Having to use great willpower to not think ooooh extra money to spend this month but think ooooh extra money to put away for when we NEED it!
Though i am also selling anyhitng not nailed down on ebay etc too to make extra cash, have to take my toddler to playgroups and stuff so trying to earn token money to cover those things!
The disadvantage of a fast growing toddler is having to buy new clothes, toys etc, but the advantage is selling their old ones!!;)
