Two consolidation loans to be exact, and when I went to close the card accounts they said 'ooh, it's always handy to have a card available for emergencies' and 'Tell you what, we'll reduce your interest rate to 10%'. Yes I was weak...
TP - I have noticed that I am in the minority on here, as Cocker says, I wonder if men tend not to talk about these things, and get into more of a mess?
I hope you don't feel outnumbered on here though and when you read through posts you don't think 'god don't women chat !!!!!!?' :rotfl:DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
I really want to respond to 50broke's comment, but I'll get in trouble if I do...

Actually, I will respond. I was going to come up with some cheeky comment about women going shopping too much (Which I just have - oops), but I've come to realise that most females want to deal with the problem (finances) and the men (the other halves) generally want to ignore it, and don't seem to recognise the problem?DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
I made our first payment to CCCS today :j Was supposed to be paid on the 1st but couldn't get to the post office until today. Going to set up a direct debit now though. Feel so pleased that we have finally made that first payment! :j:heart: Think happy & you'll be happy

I don't feel outnumbered on here, we're all in the same boat after all. Also, I quite enjoy reading through the rambles, I used to work on a floor where I was the only male office worker, and I used to love a good old natter (though I did get worried after a while...)DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
That's very true ianmak, our debt is all stuff we jointly accrued but my OH is more than happy to let me take control in sorting it out - I think he is only just now beginning to realise the depth of our problems.
Do you think it's true that some men just dont like asking for advice?Debt free Olympic Contender # 134DMP Mutual Support Thread member # 250DMP March 2010 [STRIKE]£9786 [/STRIKE] now £9900 -
I agree, do women have more debt than men? hard to be exact but there are more women on this thread than men but I bet more men are on the bankruptcy thread. I just assume men would be more likely to think sod it whereas women might as you say deal with it, take control.
OH couldn't give a toss some times but I think thats the pressure and me going on about it most nights and it does cause resentment because I feel like its all on me sometimes, the pressure of writing letters, chasing creditors with SARS, going to the Post Office etc even being on here chatting to you guys.
He seems to switch off whereas I can't at the minute. I'm a woman on the edge, I got things to do, creditors to fight for ppi and thatDMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -

Hi,
I'm not sure if this thread is just for those on CCCS DMPs?
I'm attempting to do a self-administered DMP at the moment due to my husband's complicated financial situation.
Would love to hear from anyone who's had success (or failure!)with doing a self-administered DMP but also so glad to have found this forum full of people in the same situation as us. It's a great help to know we're not alone.
I just wish (like many others) that I'd found this site a whole lot earlier. Have been through the same situation as so many of you - taking out secured/consolidation loans to pay off the credit cards which then seem to "magically" creep back up again. Until last month we had literally been robbing Peter to pay Paul and then all of a sudden we had no credit left and no way of making all the minimum payments. And (again like so many of you) we've got nothing to show for it.
Anyway, I've had my lightbulb moment and am now dealing with my debts. Deft-free by 40 (7 years)? - we'll see.LBM - Feb 2009 :money:Debt free - March 2016!
