    Agreed :D

I haven't told anyone at work about me being on here and the situation with our finances. I would be too ashamed I think! :o They know OH has had problems with work but thats about it. I just wouldn't even know where to begin with how we got in the mess.

I know exactly what you mean. Everyone else 'seems' to have their finances under control and I'm the only one in this boat of all the people I know (exculding here of course!:D). Oh well I may have no money but at least I've got (or had before they were eBayed) lots of nice things and amazing memories! Now its time for the hard slog of paying for everything. How I wish I could turn back time!

I agree - this thread is absolutely FAB!!!
I feel like I am on here a lot at the moment but it's such a support especially at the moment when I'm starting out.

I think I will just ignore RMA, although they I probably should get used to hearing from them as MBNA are 2 of my creditors and between the 2 CCs, I owe them £8500!

Ehh ehhh! no prizes Jen we beat you we owe them £10k :p

now where else could you laugh about things like this? :rotfl:

I hate to say it... but I owe them more!

I was down to exactly 10k with them and was paying off the minimum every month but due to the interest etc I wasn't paying ANYTHING off, in fact I seemed to end up owing them more.

    Hey ho..........

    Hi jenevieve,
I had three debts with MBNA, (albeit one with Virgin) but they have agreed to the reduced payments on all three debts, have frozen the interest and will review in a years time, and I have had no hassling phone calls from them. So I am crossing my fingers for you. :D

I dunno  do you think there are people who have really been sensible and lived to their means during the past few years? I bet if you delved deep enough at work, there would be a lot more people who are in debt they might not be as proud as us on here :D but I don't think there are many people out there who haven't got credit cards up to the limits or loans.

They either just haven't had their LBM yet or been lucky enough to keep up with the payments.

I Came clean to my fiance and also to my mum and dad..... phewwww what a relief!!! i don't feel like im hiding a dirty secret anymore.
I wanted my fiance to know because im a crazy spender, i honestly think its like an addiction with me!! My other half knows what state im in financially therefore he will keep me in check and make sure im not compulsive spending again!!
My mum and dad were great but quite judgemental about it all, i can tell they think im mad (they are great with money)

But hey life is looking up!!! with this thread to guide me and no longer working 5 extra 12 hour shifts a month to make minimum payments im looking forward to the future and im a nicer person to be around!!!!!
proud to be facing debts of 16000k
will be debt free in 3 years 9 months:beer:

    Nothing is too scary now!!!!!!

I know what you mean about this TP.

We were in a meeting at work the other week and I started to drift, like you do in them boring briefing session things!

I started to look around the room and tried to guess what each persons financial affairs might be like!!!!!I come to the conclusion that I dont think I was the only one in the room with financial problems and probably not the only one on a DMP!

But blokes being blokes, and working in a department with about 95% -5% more men, we just dont talk about these sort of things with each other!

Thats what makes this place so good!!!

    Cocker:)
  • Hiya skint, I kept feeling like that at the start like I was dirty, kept feeling sick going over the amounts we owed in my head and trying to think of ways we could save money on this and that to throw at the debts.

But I realise now you have to live too, we could live on beans and toast every night for a week or two to save a few extra quid but who really wants to live like that?

That would be depressing, I suppose you have to come round to thinking that being in debt isn't a crime, you haven't killed anyone (although you feel like it when reclaiming charges! :D ) paying your way doesn't mean struggling but I still can't help thinking 'if only I could pay more' etc. I don't think that feeling ever goes away until debt owed is zero.

I just look forward to the day I am debt free and can book two holidays a year and pay cash
