Hi emmylou it's alwys good to hear from people who're making progress with their DMPs :)

I'm having an exhausted/overwhelmed day today - the default has really thrown me. I spoke to CCCS today (DMP was supposed to start in March ... then April ... now May) there are yet more delays & I'm so worried we're going to end up in court before we get a chamce to try & sort things out :(
    Hi NP
Sorry to hear you've had a bad day, try and stay positive, it'll all come good in the end.;)

Hi emmylou - lovely to have another DMPer. Am a newbie myself so am a bit alarmed about your visits to court!!!

I have debts at £52,000 and should hopefully be paying just over £1000 a month into my DMP so I am hoping my creditors will accept quickly and without too much fuss.

I sent my first token payments off today     - no going back now!!!

I've also had a letter from RMA regarding a monthly payment from Feb for my A&L credit card.
Should I write to them separately explaining that I am in the process of starting up the DMP or will my letter with token payment to A&L cover them as well?

To answer your question Daffy, I am just so ashamed of the amount of debt I owe and my stupidity in getting into such a mess, that I would feel such a failure admitting it. She is a good friend and the renting/lodging is an informal arrangement - no legal contract as such - and I've been living here for 18 months. It works really well and I pay £500 monthly which is inclusive off all bills (including Sky TV) so I get a pretty good deal.
I'm pretty sure she wouldn't ask me to move out although I have wondered about whether I should consider a house-share with people I don't know, as it is easier to keep stuff private. However, I don't think I would pass the credit check that new landlords do, so I am probably better off staying put.

Sorry for the ramble, feel quite stressed out about things financially at the moment - as much as I know its a good thing I am doing, I am very wound up about it all!:o

    Evening all!

Well I can report back that my MOT today cost me the princely sum of .... wait for it.... £271!! Apparently I needed brake pads, disc pads and new windscreen wipers. Thats some of my eBay earnings gone but at least I had the foresight to put everything I had made from eBay into my savings account - strange because before I was on a DMP I would have spent the eBay money and just put the car costs on CC. Something very satisfying about paying cash for things! :j

Regarding the phone calls I keep ignoring (I know they are from Halifax CC) should I answer the call and tell them about the DMP or just ignore the calls.? They never leave a message but keep ringing at all times of the day. What has everyone else done in this situation?

    Thanks all!:D

    Hi StOlli,

Must admit I used to ignore the calls through fear more than anything else, whenever the phone started ringing it made me feel sick. Once I went through the CCCS I gained more confidence & started answering it & just telling them to speak to CCCS, I just gave them their details, the calls stopped pretty quickly after that.

Thenightporter - Why is there such a delay in setting up your DMP?? That sounds really unfortunate.

Hi, they usually ring me 8.30 Sunday morning, my only lay- in in the week. Great fun!! I just quote my CCCS number and tell them to contact them even though my plan is not yet fully in place, don't be intimidated by these calls.
    Good luck

It's really bad when these companies can't even leave people alone on a Sunday.

I used to take my kids out, even if it was just for a walk in the forest & when I'd come back there would be 3 or 4 missed calls on my phone from creditors. I used to dread arriving home.

To be honest the calls don't really bother me because I can't pay them what I don't have and I've sent all the letters to them regarding the DMP and my token payments. There isn't much more I can do and it's not my fault if their various departments aren't talking to each other. I just wonder if I'm getting myself into deeper problems ie defaults etc by not answering the calls?

dlb you seem very experienced in dmps, just spoke to cccs about my dmp and reducing it again. They were helpful, but also discussed doing my owm dmp, have you done this or are you with a company?

Salstar, my DMP is with CCCS and RBS have said that they would only stop interest if I went with a managed plan if I was self managed then they would continue to add interest and charges.

Hi everyone - hope you all had a good weekend, no post yesterday and none today:j ...although i was a little disappointed i was hoping to get a CCCS letter that might say if another creditor has or hasnt accepted our offer of payment.

Second lot of token payments were sent yesterday and as i posted on Saturday we are at 6 defaults so far.....

So on to my question....when you more experienced DMP'ers mention 'going to court' what does this actually mean ....do you personally go to court:eek: ....does it go in the papers  etc...i know i probably sound very naive but i havent a clue other than that in the majority of cases if you are on a DMP you are asked to just carry on paying....can anyone explain it a bit more for me please????

    thanks xxxx

    Hi massivedebts
Im really terrified that my debts are bigger than yours!! 83K unsecured 690 available for creditors... long long time on this board unless I can sell house and make F & F and then what, is it best to rent as it will be unlikely to get another mortgage....All due to massive reduction in wages due to recent credit crunch!

    Feel quite sick!

Hi 50broke. I also owe 83K unsecured, don't have any secured but also have about 15K of HP. I'm paying £874 a month and DFD is approx 8 years away. So you'll only be a couple of years behind me. There's a few long termers on here so your not alone. I also look at it that it took me a good few years to build up these debts so it's only natural that it's going take a few to pay them back.
