Bank of Scotland sent me a letter on Friday charging me £30 for three attempted phone calls and £10 for the letter!!!! How can I answer the phone when I am at work? I now see that the AA loan I have is also part of Bank of Scotland so will wait for another letter!
WHAT???
I've never heard of anything like this before!!! What a complete joke!!!
How can any creditor justify these grossly inflated charges?
Since when does a cost a tenner to phone someone who doesn't answer?
Total Losers!!!
I'd write back to them and threten to go to the press if they dont refund you.

Hey folks, i finally managed to get everything together and sent off to CCCS, im really scared though!!! i could pee my pants!!!!.
Im glad to be getting on top of things but scared of the unknown.
I sent all my token payments of 1 quid today, was so embarrassing asking the woman for 12 1 pound postal orders haha!!!
Do you think they would let me start my DMP in may?? For no other reason than i want to stockpile some cash really!!! never ever had any savings!!!
My main problem at the mo is i am in the process of changing my account from lloyds tsb to abbey, abbey have sent me a new card but no pin as of yet, i don't want to put my money in it until i can access it!!! need to jump ship on llloyds as soon as possible as have just defaulted my loan with them !!!! how long before they catch up with me and nick my funds mwahahahahaah!!!! (im scared really)
Skintlady...I will panic with you about Lloyds. I cancelled my DD with them last month and got a letter from them regarding that. I then got a phone call from them last week as I am opening a new account with Nat West and they wanted to know why I was switching. I was totally honest with her and told her about my DMP even though I have two loans with Lloyds. I have not had any response since CCCS have made offer of reduced payment. My account is closing on Friday. My wages are going in my new account on Friday. phew...If you have had your card from Abbey then the pin shouldn't be far behind.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 1145DMP mutual support thread member: 264

jenevieve I had a letter from RMA but after advice from people on MSE I just ignored it as RMA are the inhouse debt collectors for MBNA. Don't know if I've done the right thing tho

It's great to hear everybody's different experiences and advice on here... I think this thread is FAB! :j
It's such a relief to be able to talk openly albeit anonymously about my debt and DMP. Have actually told one friend about it (DMP and MSE) but I don't really think she 'got it' if you know what I mean.:D
Agreed
I haven't told anyone at work about me being on here and the situation with our finances. I would be too ashamed I think! They know OH has had problems with work but thats about it. I just wouldn't even know where to begin with how we got in the mess.

Does anyone know why it takes such a long time to set up DMP, I dont know when mine will start but have sent all relevant docs off to CCCS, and paid my £1.00 to creditors, do I continue to pay £1.00 for next month until plan is in place??
thanks all0 -

It usually takes a couple of weeks to set up so please don't panic, in the mean time just keep sending the token payment until you hear from CCCS about your start date.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0

Hi emmylou - lovely to have another DMPer. Am a newbie myself so am a bit alarmed about your visits to court!!!
I have debts at £52,000 and should hopefully be paying just over £1000 a month into my DMP so I am hoping my creditors will accept quickly and without too much fuss.
I sent my first token payments off today     - no going back now!!!
I've also had a letter from RMA regarding a monthly payment from Feb for my A&L credit card.
Should I write to them separately explaining that I am in the process of starting up the DMP or will my letter with token payment to A&L cover them as well?
To answer your question Daffy, I am just so ashamed of the amount of debt I owe and my stupidity in getting into such a mess, that I would feel such a failure admitting it. She is a good friend and the renting/lodging is an informal arrangement - no legal contract as such - and I've been living here for 18 months. It works really well and I pay £500 monthly which is inclusive off all bills (including Sky TV) so I get a pretty good deal.
I'm pretty sure she wouldn't ask me to move out although I have wondered about whether I should consider a house-share with people I don't know, as it is easier to keep stuff private. However, I don't think I would pass the credit check that new landlords do, so I am probably better off staying put.
Sorry for the ramble, feel quite stressed out about things financially at the moment - as much as I know its a good thing I am doing, I am very wound up about it all!:o
Hiya,
Is your A&L card run by MBNA?
I think RMA is the in house DCA of MBNA, so if so then I dont think you would need to write to them just yet as they will be up to speed on everything.
They will just not tell you that and try and get you to pay the arrears on the account quicker. They'll give up eventually!;)

I went with the switching service also with Nat West but so far so good. I keep checking to make sure that they have not taken the payment out of my overdraft. If I am right though I have seen letters regarding appropriation on here to stop them touching your money. I am sure someone will be able to provide you with a template just in case.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 1145DMP mutual support thread member: 264

I agree - this thread is absolutely FAB!!!
I feel like I am on here a lot at the moment but it's such a support especially at the moment when I'm starting out.
I think I will just ignore RMA, although they I probably should get used to hearing from them as MBNA are 2 of my creditors and between the 2 CCs, I owe them £8500!:rolleyes:Proud to be dealing with my debts
