  • Please can I join!

Ive been lurking for a few weeks already.

Husband and I have debts of around 35K with Nationwide, MBNA, Tesco and Abbey.

We have completed the online DMP with CCCS and have sent off all our paperwork, they had originally suggested a monthly payment of £188 but we have just had a raise in tax credits so Im guessing they will re-adjust it.

I am scared and excited at the same time, we have sent all creditors the DMP notification and token payments for February, only Tesco have acknowledged us and sent us a fairly nice letter saying all the information we need to give to CCCS.

No word from the others yet.

Everyone on here seems very nice and I look forward to chatting more and getting to know you all.

  • ianmak, is it ok to have a number aswell, feel as though i may pop on here quite alot for support and advice and to also help others

Just a question, CCCS have advised me that the DMP will start on April 1st, how likely would they be to delay until 1st of May? Just feel as though an extra month of paying token payments would be beneficial.

Just contact them and tell them your not quite ready and can they please move the start date to May.
We did this to ours, origionally moving it from December 08 to feb 09 due to bank accounts and salarys not being able to be moved over the christmas period. Remember, Your still in control.

  • Hi again
I'm about to send off my token payments to my creditors and I'm dreading the phonecalls I'm going to get. I suffer with anxiety and this isn't going to help matters.

Do you think I could include a letter saying I do not wish to be contacted by phone in with the token payment? Am I right in thinking there is a standard letter I can print off? If so, where can I find it please?

Thank you for all your help - not sure I could do this without this board! Sorry for all the questions!
Proud to be dealing with our debts!:j

    Reference :-

    Dear Sir / Madam,

I am writing to inform you that I am seeking advice and assistance regarding my current financial difficulties.
I have sought the advice of “CCCS” and I am in the process of working out a Debt Management Plan with them. My CCS DMP Case Reference is 1187809

All future payments to yourselves will be administered and managed on my behalf through CCCS. In view of my circumstances, please accept the enclosed payment of £ in lieu of this month’s payment to yourself. To this end, I would appreciate if you would freeze all interest and other charges on the above account so my debt does not increase. Should my circumstances improve; additional payments will be made through CCCS.

Thank you for you assistance and understanding in this matter. I would appreciate it in future if all correspondence be made in writing to me.

I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

    Yours Faithfully

Im just starting out aswell, youre in control of the situation so stay strong ;)

Don't stress about the phone calls. Be strong and tell them to delete your numbers and not to call you again. They can be done for harrassment if they continue to pester you in that way and don't be afraid to remind them of it. I know it's easier said than done so you can write them a letter and ignore the phone calls in the meantime. Use 1471 to screen your calls if you don't have caller ID.

  • Morning all,

Overslept through my alarm this morning! oops!! haven't done that for ages! and my cats normally wake me up at the right time but this morning they were nowhere to be seen! Typical!

Second payment has gone to Payplan today! woohoo! looking forward to watching the next month unfold!

I have a couple of questions on behave of my best friend!

Firstly can you have a dmp if you've quit your job rather than been made redundant? How does it affect it? I don't think she could do one with having quit (she was so depressed as her boss was a bully and there was nothing she could do. and she hopefully starts training to be a proper cop in july anyway!) but wasn't sure! Her boyfriend says he'll support her but she still has cc and loan debts so I was telling her all about what I'm doing!

And also, i noticed someone asked about whether it would affect your career if you were a teacher, but what about a cop? I've told her it shouldn't at all but she's still worried about it!

    Ta muchly.

    (and ta for my number!!)
