Hello all, well I'm still swithering re repayment plans/DMP/Payplan.

My main (amongst many) issue is my loan with Northern Rock. I am VERY worried becuase I understand they always go for charging orders - can they do this even though the loan isn't secured?

    I swing between:
1 Paying the minimun on everything else (still a struggle) and then going to Payplan when the NR Loan finishes in 01/08/14
2 Trying to sort out payment arrangements with everyone else and throwing everything spare at NR
3 Going on a DMP with Payplan and thinking 'sod em, I don't have the cash'

3 is my preferred option but I am terrified of a charging order. DH doesn't know (long story, many problems over the years including mental health issues) so I am verry very scared right now.

Thanks for listening, I like posting on this thread cos everyone is so nice and non-judgemental - I'm not proud of it but I am where I am, just trying to cope with it all. Its good not to feel so alone.

I too have a loan with NR, October is the 2nd year on DMP, after the initial phone calls etc when DMP was being set up all thus far is running smoothly. All interest stopped, no hassle from them, this is coming to an end in July and will up payment to them hopefully, but only by a few extra pounds to enable them to freeze interest again for another year. Also trying to put some money aside for F&F in the next year or two as I'm also afraid that they'll come at me with CO. Also same as you my OH does not know about my debt and I don't intend for him to find out, my own personal reasons and don't need anybody to tell me to tell him.

Good luck and try not to worry too much, easier said than done I know, but it does get better I promise.

    Hiya JWM.
You are in the right place for help and support!
What ever you decide to do..make sure you stick around to let us know how you are getting on.
Just remember there is never a problem that can not be sorted one way or another....just answers that need to be found!:D
The answer to all my problems was the dmp.......life was dark and miserable...never will i go back there from the minute i started the dmp , a huge weight was lifted and life was great again..............and in the weirdest way i think i will quite miss it all when i finally get to that debt free date..not the debt but the enjoyment i get each month from seeing the ballances go down and seeing how close i am getting to the magical DFD!!!!( i know im just strange!!!)

Ill just have to settle (lol) for watching the savings grow after this journey is over!!!

Here to help with anything i can

JWM, I wouldn't want to get your hopes up, it's just that NR were very keen on charging orders. It's a possibility that they'll go for one in the future. What I will say is that they've been pretty good with me so far....

    Elsie52. I'm only joking.... :(

Ooh can I have a number too please! Really makes you feel part of the place! I like it!!

So got paid today, including bonus! Bonus was not quite as good as i'd worked out (using a tax percentage someone had suggested to me) but it's still good for half a year here!

Today I have spent some already (all planned i hasten to add).
Booked myself on a photoshop course (do photography as an extra. also dad gave me money for it for xmas but it dissapeared into the bottomless pit that WAS my finances and i didn't know how to tell him!)
Also have paid my institution subs (but get that back from work so all good), next 5 weeks lottery tickets, 2 race for life's, and bought a ring!

And I have written everything down and intend to keep that up! Tomorrow i will be buying gig tickets with the money, and then putting the rest away for other things that may come up!!

yay for my first ever bonus!!

oh and just had call from northern rock. they have accepted my reduced payment for 6 months and wanted to just ask WHY i was having financial difficulties! She was very nice and i even asked about having a mortgage with them too! and she said it's fine. with this reduced payment being accepted it won't even default (which i surprised about).

Also got a call this morning (was home after having a blood test) from Tesco finance for hubs! the woman said it was urgent! and when i said no to both giving her another number for him, or giving him the number to call them she hung up. I then got paranoid I'd done the wrong thing and prompty phoned payplan for advice! lady said that was fine and the right thing to do and that they will contact them for me!

(Have to say it felt quite good tho just saying no to her! 'can you please give him this number to ring us urgently''no!!!!' hehe!!)

Afternoon all, not been around for a while so will try to catch up in a minute. Quick question first though. I'm preparing my token payments for my HSBC loan and Credit card, should I send them both to the payment address I've got in Camberley or to the main address in Canada Square, London?

    Hope you are all well.

    Christopher

    Good eve R & B:D

I would send it to the address in Canada Square, the Camberley address is where they process the credit card payments, it's not even HSBC at that address!

Good evening to all the other DMP'ers,:j

I've been a bit quiet on here recently as back to work and running kids here there and everywhere. I do try to catch up on the thread everyday, and am always wondering what my 'virtual' mates have been chatting about!:A

Still feeling positive, so that's good.

    Take care and keep posting.

IANMAK  - you're a superstar, thanks for the number 255, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the amount of months it'll take me to get Debt Free!?! :( (I'll work it out and let you know.)
Finally brave enough to deal with my debts! :D
