Garmin Satnav offers (merged)

Hi all

I think I must be missing something, when I seen the original post I was a bit confused as I can only ever remember somerfield selling food items, I checked the web and no mention of any techy stuff. Somebody mentioned Kentish Town in an earlier store and all I seen was food items when I visited. So could somebody please point me in the right direction as to where I can find the pda and sat nav unit in or around London and if there is a web link that would be super, and 1 more thing in case I do get my hands on one of these has anyone managed to install tom tom on the pda.

The electrical stuff like cameras and satnavs are normally by/behind the cigarette counter and ive found only their bigger stores, the ones that do home delivery (food only i think?) have them.The little somerfields near me had no electricals at all.
If you fancy going south? the mitcham branch has some pda's in,saw them thursday (ring first just in case) and tomtom works fine on this pda's and so does the original navigon software which im using.

Your advice is much appreciated I will be peering behind the cigarette counter now, do you have the address of the 1 in Mitcham by any chance thanks.

Hi,

Just in case anyone is interested in buying the Garmin or Micromaxx in North West UK, the Kwiksave store at Buxton, Derbyshire had some of both in this morning (21 Jan 06). Ask at the wine counter, they are not all on display.

Hi all,

I picked up a micromaxx pda from somerfield in glasgow (cictoria rd), they had one left after i bought one.

I tried loading tomtom 5 software onto pda,installs fine, but when i try to run it, it crashes and i have to do a hard reset to get it back to normal.

Anyone know what the problem could be. Please pm me or reply in this board if you got it working.

tomtom 5 working fine on my PDA...Just installed it via SD card and away it went...

It defaults to Bluetooth GPS.

As soon as you start TomTom, touch the screen , then Change Preferences>right arrow>right arrow>right arrow>Show GPS Status>Configure>Other NMEA GPS>4800>Serial Cable on SP2>Done

It will work then!

You need to do that quickly or it will lock up again.

They had one PDA left in the kwiksave in Bolton, crompton way store yesterday, give them a ring to check they still have it first and ask them to keep it to one side for you.
Lots seem to have the £99 ones left in stock.

The kwiksave going into Hindley had lots on Wednesday but some naughty person walked in the back of the store and took all the stock of them and the cameras Grrrrrr.
