Virus I think

I have had a Sony laptop which I only use for my itunes and some few files. I didnt bother to instal antivirus cos I thouht theres no point, moreso it slows down the processor.

A friend came yesterday and wanted to copy some files and I told her to go ahead.Afterwards, the laptop started misbehaving and wont even connect to the inetrnet to let me download antivirus to clean it.

Pls techies what can I do to clean this laptop cos I cant afford to lose all the files on it.

Thanks

  • You will need some anti virus software

Avast or Antivir are both free. Download one of these and run it.

You will also need a firewall but until clean use windows

Download http://www.malwarebytes.org/ first, run ,update, scan and remove all infections then download free antivirus .:j
  • Malwarebytes is not an anti virus product, whilst very good anti virus is the priority

How do you know it's a virus and not a piece of malware?

Malwarebytes has trojans and viruses in its database anyways. Id certainly run that first as its quicker to start things rolling.

So you will need to download programs elsewhere and transfer them via a flashdrive or CD.

I take your point, however he became infected when he had no software so why clean it and then go hunting for antiviral products.
