Not Quite Rock bottom

Quick update: I made it to student finance yesterday (but not my class as I couldn't haul my butt out of bed in time) and I've got an application for the discretionary fund. I've almost completed it and got all the paperwork together so I'll get that in to them by the weekend.
I've also sent my CV off for a couple of jobs so fingers crossed there although I start another placement next week and will be knackered so could probably do without job hunting. But I know it needs to be done.
I've also got my letter together to try and get a refund of my charges. Not very optimistic about Lloyds TSB but hope Cahoot might stump up soemthing. Also, does anyone know if I can trty to reclaim my credit card charges even if they were only the reduced rate of £12?Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on

As far as i am aware you can claim all charges, but have to reword the letter slightly..so it would read charges and interest for the last 6 years. Have a look at the bits you have to delete and that should help, remember as Martin points out it is the fairness of the charge and the admin involved. You have nothing to lose by trying anyway except a letter and stamp.
Good luck young Mupet, sorry i have not spoken to you for a bit.

Hi muppet. The only thing i know about card charges now is that banks try to say this is a legal amount as the FSA agreed to this amount, but in fact the FSA only said that they would not investigate claims for charges of £12 or less. They never said this was a fair or lawful amount to charge, so yes - you should still be able to reclaim. It might be better looking on the reclaiming board for details though. Very long time since i looked at this now.
Glad to see you're still headed in the right direction and pushing forward with things. Kepp plugging away and hopefully you'll be able to feel better about the inroads you are making. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I've been totally knackered today so haven't done very much (except go to uni). Got big plans for the weekend though:
- Shopping with my sister tomorrow (I'll go for the vicarious pleasure of watching her spend money)
- Completing and sending application for discretionary funds
- Sending letters for charge reclaims
- Getting folder ready for placement on Monday
- Chasing up car insurance idiots to see what is happening about my car repairs
- Go food shopping
- Do some batch cooking (hob only:mad: ) so things will be a bit easier when I'm on placement.

Hi Mupeteer, just dropping by to see how things are. I'm certainly feeling a warmer glow from this thread, that's for sure:T
I truly hope things are on the up for you now and you'll get your uni finances, etc sorted and your change in medication will finally work.
I've just found a one pot recipe for the cooker top and my DH is BEGGING me to cook it..............
Now, it's called Sunday Brunch Beans and it goes like this:
2 tbsp veg oil
1 potato thinly sliced (unpeeled)
200g tin corned beef, sliced
400g tin baked beans
spash worcestershire sauce
(takes 20-25 mins, serves 2 and is easily doubled)
Heat oil in pan until hot (duh) ad sliced potato and fry 7-10 mins until golden and crisp
Push potatoes to one side in pan, add corned beef & fry undisturbed for a couple of mins.
Tip in baked beans, add splash worcestershire and stir gently till beans hot.
EAT!
Looks too easy and the look on husband's mush it might be magic!! I can provide calorie count too if required, though I don't bother (and it shows:p )
So, given you've only got the hob working it might be an option:DGrocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
Thanks for the recipe, fletch.
I am feeling a little bit more positive this week. I've at least taken some steps (lots more to go) to make things better and having made amends with my sister and her kids has made a difference.
As far as my list for the weekend goes I've only managed to go shopping with my sister and do a very small amount of food shopping but at least I've started.
My dad called earlier to say he has arranged for a sparky to come round to look at my electrics and that might well be tomorrow so fingers crossed. A safe and working kitchen might be a reality in the near future.
I've also reconsidered the situation with my dog. I feel I'd be letting her down if I gave up on her now so I've contacted Pania and asked if her offer of help is still available. Although I haven't led the dog off the lead all week she has been an absolute sweetheart. It does me good to have her and I'm pretty sure she likes staying with me. She's just a bit misguided in her ideas sometimes!Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on
