Scrub with old toothbrush & a little toothpaste, it works a treatOfficial DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

A teaspoon of soda crystals, fill it up with boiling water and leave it till it's cold. Then a quick rinse under the tap and good as new. Drop your teaspoons in as well if they are a bit stained.Oh dear, here we go again.0

I'm a black tea drinker and I found by accident when making honey and lemon drinks when I had a cold that lemon juice does the job nicely - so pop in some hot water and a squirt of juice and leave for a bit - and not so toxic as bleach!0

I use milton too.. But only because having a baby I buy it anyway.. In our pre children days I used to bleach them...
The best thing though is rinsing the cups out before the tea stain has dried on.. I keep the washing up bowl full of soapy water to chuck them in through the day so they generally don't get stained.. The only ones that do are the ones that dh had late at night and left the cup in the living room0 -
Hi karrie,
I drink black tea so need to remove the tea stains quite regularly and I just soak the mug in hot soapy water with a squirt of bleach added.
There's an earlier thread with more ideas that may help so I've added your thread to it to keep the replies together.

You can also scrub the stains away with bicarbonate of soda instead of using salt. It's greener to avoid bleach though I know it works well.0

I use these too - they are brilliant, just leave to soak for a few hours or overnight and then give a good wash - no scrubbing needed!
I use them for our mugs and DD's water bottles and lids.0 -
lemon juice works everytime, take a half of lemon once your finished with it, rub it inside the mug..takes out all the stains, can dry them out after!OU Law studentMay Grocery challenge£30/ £110

Soda crystals and boiling water are what I use. 30-year old cups still look as good as new.0
