  • I find that a good run the in the dishwasher helps, or a soak with a mild bleach solution. Hope this helps.
  • I agree with Diana, my Mum drinks black tea (yuk) and everytime she has visited us, I add a little bleach to a sink of water and soak them for an hour or so. Works a treat.
Dont forget to give them a good wash out afterwards, I think bleach tea would be worse than black tea
I am pleased to give hairdressing help or advice, but a thank you doesn't go a miss.

  • Put a small drop of water in the mug, then put a tablespoon of tablesalt in the mug & rub in with fingers. That should do the trick.

This works really well with sugar too, that's what I normally do.
  • My mum always uses washing powder. When we were young, we used to go on holiday and stay in holiday cottages all over the country. The first thing Mum did when we arrived was fill the teapot with a spoon of washing powder and some hot water and leave it to soak.........
  • 1/2 denture cleaning tablet in the bottom of the mug and then fill the mug up with boiling waterl, leave for a hour and then rinse well - removes the stain completely and leaves them sparkling clean...no aftertaste either.

Works well with heavily stained teapots too... although you need to use two tablets.

Stand any stained teaspoons inside mug/teapot to soak in solution to get them shiny again without scrubbing

I use baby sterilising liquid and it works very well, shops own brand not the expensive stuff. I expect it will be safer than using bleach too.
