A set of salter digital kitchen scales
    a DAB digital radio
Some candles shaped like cats lol (she likes cats)
    Simon and Garfunkel CD collection

errr... think that's it. SImon and garfunkel was meant to be for her bday early in Dec but it didn't arrive on time (typical) so I gave her some Waitrose vouchers instead to help with the Christmas food :)

my bf bought her a book on how to be a mother in law lol!!!

I would love to have that problem - my mum died earlier this year and I'm still devastated

I used to like buying her treatments that spoilt her a bit, as she'd otherwise never have tried them - I bought her a facial one year which she loved, and another year a hand massage.

Then this year you should treat yourself to said facial/manicure. My dad died a while back now but, i always buy myself some chocolate brazils at christmas!

I am shocked that anyone thanked you for this post. You are obviously angry and hurting that you have lost your Mum. I know that feeling well but the op
was merely asking advice on what to get HER mom. Time will heal anger and grief and in the meantime there are lots of lovely caring people on here that would help and support you, but not if you make upsetting posts like this.

I dont think it's an upsetting post at all and I have lost a parent. Humour can be a way of dealing with things.

but not when people who are very recently bereaved are going to read the thread too
  • I have bought my mum the new Martina Cole book and the new Il Divo CD! Her requests!
I find my Dad is harder to buy for, though I got him the new Jeremy Clarkson book this year. No idea for the step mum, probably just smellies!

I smiled at the post referred to too!
I lost my mum earlier this year, my dad died several years ago, much closer to christmas than we are now. This year christmas is not going to be easy, but if I don't laugh they'll be carrying me off to the mental hospital by new year.
No matter how inappropriate others find it we all deal with our loss in different ways.

my mum is very difficult to buy for
this year i've just bought some odds and ends, like a necklace and bracelet she liked from avon her face cream (day and night) she likes
    choccies and bath wash
but some of the stuff im going to put into a home made hamper (eg box) as well as some of her everyday stuff she likes, like coffee, hot chocolate, crunchies
  • As a Mum I will tell you what I like. Buying Clarins products and having facials. I cannot afford so much now as I am retired but do drop hints. Even vouchers to buy them myself will be gratefully received. When my mother in law died she had drawers full of ornaments and gift sets she never used but I always bought her something she could eat or drink. For myself (a trendy granny) something nice to slap on my face or vouchers for a facial or manicure would be heaven;)
