I'm going to join a gym and loose weight as Doc said I would help my condition by doing so.
I'm not going to keep spending money going out, me and hubbie will have the gym each and the girls their Girls Brigade, one paying thing a week each.
Already told family that we're not buying presents and cards next year.
Only going to shop in sales for anything we need.0 -
We are debt and morgage free and retired so this years resolutions are;
1. To have a weekly cash amount to cover everything except d/d's such as mobile charges/clothes/presents (except Christmas)/garden etc and when its gone its gone.
2. To save on petrol by OH and I keeping 'days out' to once a week on a Friday when we can also do the weekly food shop while we are out.
3. No clothes/cosmetics/shoes etc unless replacements as already have more than I can wear.
4. Keep a weekly cash spending diary. The household d/d's take care of themselves and anyhow I have a spreadsheet for them.
5. Be a bit more inventive with our meals.
6. Keep to a household routine. (I more or less do this already)
7. Make a note in my diary when things need to be bought/paid for a few days before due because otherwise I don't notice until its too late.
8. Keep going with my plans for the garden and grow a few edibles.
Think thats more than enough to be going on with. :rotfl:Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
I have been very remiss and not been on here for ages. There's been "stuff" going on and whilst I've tried to be OS sometimes it hasn't happened - it's been enough emotionally keeping it together....Anyway.....2011 I am going back to basics and getting a firm grip on myself (and OH LOL!) and we're going to start growing some veg in the garden. Not massive amounts but enough for us.... I might also start e-baying again as I stopped when it went a bit quiet and still have stuff to get rid of....mostly cross stitch stuff.....I'm going to try and make more presents (perhaps cross stitch LOL!) and once we do a couple of other things (why does every job on the house have a knock on effect?) we can get a new freezer and I can batch cook again....So that's about it, mainly come on here a bit more and get my act together....:DBut I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Plans for 2011!
1) Get back into exercise and healthy eating after the month lapse that was December
2) Crack the whip on expenditure - get back into frugal mode with things like justifying every purchase made at the supermarket, including choosing something other than basics, stop being fussy with food and eat what's in the cupboard, no takeaways, withdraw the set budget for food per month and only take alloted cash budget to the supermarket, no cards - it's surprising how much more clear minded you are with only cash and a calculator in your hand!
3) Complete 1 DIY task around the house per month
4) Put in one load of clothes to wash every day (or other day if not needed, but still check) so thing's are not left to the weekend!
5) Wash up after each meal so it's not hard and stuck on the next day and takes loads longer!
6) Wipe down taps and bathroom and squirt down some bleach every evening before bed to keep bathroom and toilet cleaning more manageable
7) Stick to plans for saving up ready for a big spend on baby stuff in the next January sales, ready for a September-December 2012 baby!
8) Try for a 2012 baby from December
Some plans are bigger than others!)

Am determined to do better at the veg growing, more planning needed.
Label stuff in the freezer
Keep a sealed pot with 20p's in it - starting small
keep up the momentum for making things - have done very well at keeping DGs in stuff he needs but have lots more to do - using up my stash and not buying more
other than that continue with the O/S lifestyle to build up cash in my sticky hands. keeping a grip on my tax rebate and PPI reclaim has gone well and we have a small nest egg to cover emergencies.
Make more me and OH time with breaks to recharge our batteries but always O/S style breaks ie taking picnics with us as life is too short to sit at home all the time.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
I'm going to be out of work for a while (today is my last day at work, eek) so we really need to make some cutbacks. So:
1. Eat more vegetarian meals, because meat is expensive.
2. One weekly shop, no nipping to Co-Op every other day.
3. Stop using the car for unnecessary trips. If I'm going to the library or to the shop for a pint of milk, I can use my legs.
4. NO MORE COOKBOOKS.
5. Keep a diary of everything I spend money on, so I can work out where it actually goes.
6. Maybe I will also try and grow a bit of veg in the garden... trouble is I hate gardening and am rubbish at it.0 -
I have a few resolutions, was very good last year and achieved them all!
Here they are, 2010 (done!) and 2011
2010
Knit a jumper
Wear more dresses
Enjoy the great outdoors
Make more clothes (made a dress and a skirt in 2010)
2011
Knit a jumper that fits :rotfl:
Start a blog
Do at least 1 exercise class a week
Make more interesting packed lunches
Start a knitting/crochet group0 -
Do you have any New years resolutions that relate to OS?
Mine are:
More homebaking
More variety in home cooked meals and less cheating, getting takeaway!
Learn to crochet (could do it when I was 10, so fairly sure I can pick it up) OR rag rug making
Have a washday, every week to keep on top of Mt Washmore! (might need to start with 2!!!)
I am also going to make crafts throughout the year, instead of panicking in December, for the local craft fayres. I could have made much more money this year if I had got more stock
Lastly, I am going to utilise the CS's more.
Wish me luck! Thats ambitious for me. 6 NYR's! I usually have just 1... To make no resolutions = and so far I have never broken it0 -
Oooh, OS resolutions.....
I suppose mine will be- To lose that elusive 10lbs without a gym or diet club (have all the books, recipes, and fitness DVDs you could ever need and have bought a new swimsuit with a money off voucher)
- To keep mealplanning and writing shopping lists
- To decorate the spare bedroom myself and not pay someone to do it (have managed 3 other rooms myself and they're not at all bad)

I'm reluctant to call them New Year resolutions cause that probabley setting me up to fail but I want to
Use whats in the freezers instead of keep buying more food!
Finish all my knitting and embroidery projects before I buy more.
Alter the five skirts that no longer fit before I buy more.
And finally get myself & OH motivated to do more because life is rapidly passing us by.
Happy New Year Everyone.
