    My resolutions are...

    1) Waste less food ie. cutting down portions, keep an eye on use by dates etc. and also use less washing/dishwashing powder.
    2) Try and cut down food bill by converting daughter to in season fruit and buying less meat. Will also try to buy more in Lidl/Aldi/Tesco and less in Waitrose.
    3) I would also love to learn to crochet, apparently my local WI are trying to 'recruit' someone to teach their members.
    4) Try to devote more time to my crafting. Love making/customising childrens clothes and have enough fabric to last me a lifetime!
    5) Try to amuse children far more frugally ie. cut down on cinema visits, trips to build a bear and expensive soft play. Am going to make pom poms with DD (5) this afternoon to use up some scraps of wool.
    6) Continue scouring charity shops. Recent bargains have included brand new ferrari tshirt for DS (£1) and leather skinny belt for me (50p)
    7) Make lunch/tea for OH to take to work everyday
    8) Walk to/from school as much as possible to save on petrol.

    Have a lovely christmas!

    2. keep the jogging going strong.
  • I am moving from a flat to a house mid Jan, and it has a garden :D so I am hoping to be able to learn how to grow salad/veg this year :)

  • Mine are to be very productive over on the allotment. We didn't make the most of the growing season this year. I would like a constant supply of veg and salad during the growing season, fingers crossed.
Making the most of the food we have in cupboards, fridge and freezers.
I would love a nice stock pile of food in the pantry. I would love the idea of going in there to shop :rotfl:.

OOh can I add more growing veg again this year, but going to be using eggshells and coffee grounds to keep the nasty slugs away!

What a great thread! Everything should take up less than an hour a week so I can keep on top of it.
    • Not waste any food. Be more on top of leftovers and batch cooking and turn everything else into soup!
    • Make a better effort with growing veg, starting by planting seeds in january. Use plastic bottles for plant incubators and egg shells to get rid of slugs (thanks keelyjrs!).
    • Learn to use soap crystals! This is a big one, I want to use soap crystals, essential oils and any natural things I can to do laundry.

I'm reluctant to call them New Year resolutions cause that probabley setting me up to fail but I want to
Use whats in the freezers instead of keep buying more food!
Finish all my knitting and embroidery projects before I buy more.
Alter the five skirts that no longer fit before I buy more.
And finally get myself & OH motivated to do more because life is rapidly passing us by.
    Happy New Year Everyone.

Hope you don't mind me copying you WER.

DH and I have a good life and travel quite a bit but I want to see more of this country too. Also vjsmum said something about doing things together. I find that if DH and I get out (even if it's just for a walk) then we talk to each other more, otherwise we're just busy pottering in separate rooms.

I also want to try and use my mind a bit more. It's easy to just be on here, look at the odd mag or collapse in front of the tv. I need to read and think more! Then I'll have plenty of witty conversation for when DH and I are together!:rotfl:

I will be joining in the 'clear the freezer and storecupboards' challenge. I try to do it every week but I need to be more serious. I don't mind buying veg, I just need to wade through all the meats. (I am going to buy some cheap beef to make into casserole packs while it's on offer first).

I'm still forming my ideas and will reflect over the holiday. I'm going to start a nice notebook/file to help organise myself.
  • 1. To use the second hand breadmaker which I bought a while back. 2. Same goes for the 'never out of the box' slow cooker from the 80's which was given to me. (I keep thinking" I bet I'll make a mistake when I use them!) 3. Stop trawling through MSE every 10 minutes when I'm working at something else and each time I walk past the computer. 4. Find out what the 'yellow star' next to my MSE name means.

What an excellent thread! I've recently fallen off the OS wagon (not majorly, but still...) and haven't been active on here for a while. My success and spending far too long on here, do go hand in hand!

So, for 2012 I hereby resolve to:

    1) Spend too long on Old Style. :D
    2) Revert back to meal planning.
    3) Use things in the freezer, linked to resolution 2.
    4) sort unwanted books and other bits, donating them to charity shops.
    5) Help DH to sort the garden (currently looks like the Somme) and endeavour to grow some of our own veg.
