I also purchased one of these phones, same problem, no £10 credit added, I sent numerous emails etc. .. still nothing.

I sent an e mail to the Chief Exec. of CPW, that did the trick, I got a phone call the next day suggesting that I called in to a CPW Shop to have the credit added, I declined as my nearest shop is a 16 mile round trip away, they said that they couldn't do it any other way, I said tough, then I will send another e mail to your Chief Exec.

Hold on Sir, said the employee, he went away and said that he had sorted it, got my credit within minutes.

What a shambles of a company..

Yes it is rather shambolic, to say the least. Why they can't send the credit with the phone is beyond me. However, thinking about it some more, and knowing how these companies operate, I can see their logic is that many people will not pursue the £10 credit and therefore CPW would effectively pocket the money.

I find this dubious business practise rather nauseating.
  • Right, was back on the phone to consumer direct earlier. Trading Standards will be calling me to take things further. To be perfectly honest, i would be happy to go to the small claims court. They are so bloody out of order its incredible. Never ever ever will i ever buy anything from carphone warehouse again! Muppets!

This will fit in with your budget:

Sony Ericsson J132 on Virgin Mobile Pay As You Go

Apparently, all Carphone Warehouse phones seem to be unlocked so it matters not that it's on Virgin to start with.

And £5 cashback through Quidco? Just got the Nokia 1650 (virgin sim) through CPW and it tracked through Quidco so the phone effectively cost £5. Maybe a slightly better phone than the J132. Bigger screen and more memory.

    Hi, dipped,
Can you confirm that this is unlocked?

Has anyone bought this on t-mobile and is it unlocked as well?

    TIA.
  • Woo Hoo. Finally got my £10 credit. The oh kept saying just forget about it, and then moaning. So now he will have to find something else to moan about.

  • After intervention by Trading Standards, they are sending me a cheque. Victory, but a pain in the ..... We should not have to do this!!!! And they never replied to my formal letter of complaint. Bad Carphone warehouse, very very bad.

Yes definately unlocked. Before I opened the virgin sim pack with it I tried O2 sim and my Asda mobile (vodafone) sim and it all worked.
My £10 credit took about 4 days to be added.

The shop staff confirmed it would be unlocked and the J132 is as well. They could tell looking on their screens though I bought online and you can return as long as you haven't opened the supplied Sim envelope.

Haven't been back lately hence delay in response.
