Feelie: I say wait n see, being home alone for a week isn't so bad I do it a few times a year when hubby goes off with work (unfortunately the most glamorous place he's been was the isle of white for 2 nights so I didn't join him)
once bump is here you'll know after a month or so if you feel fine to take them along or not, people do it everyday so it can't be that bad :D
My only real concern would be jabs, they aren't covered until they've had them all (I think) which is at 6 months . If you've been before thats great as you'll know what to expect and if you think you can do it or not, its a great life experience for kids to experience other cultures so start as you mean to go on ;)
Ps. while we were in Aus Chris learnt to ask for his fave apple juice in german - he's a genius! :A

ETA: see you later I'm off to hopefully bag myself some bargin wipes :)

  • Hi All,

just wanted to give you all an update from me - it's taken me ages to catch up with the thread (and by the time i've done that I don't normally have time to post...you girls talk too much! ;) )

Got to hear the baby's heartbeat this morning at my 16 week check up (I'm 15+6). It took a while to find it as baby was hiding very low down, but it was amazing and I haven't been able to stop smiling since.

I also got my Emma's Diary which looks full of useful info (and freebies) and I should get my bounty pack at my 20 week scan in Jan.

Just a quick question on the gift pack - is it any good?

It is a promotional pack of free samples to try and persuade you to buy their products...if I remember rightly:

1 nappy (pampers and scarily tiny!)
1 tiny pot sudocrem (very useful little travel tub!)
    2 fairy non-bio tablets

    As few vouchers...
    That was about it.

These companies pay to be allowed to put their stuff in there...because the nhs give the packs out the products look like they are nhs sponsored...but it could be any brand really.

    Sorry to be a cynic.

Don't worry - I know where your coming from, it's just that I've had a couple of non-baby related free gift packs in the past which weren't worth the effort it took to collect them, but I think i'll go for this just for the little sudocrem (which I use on my excema as well).

I beat you even more, I still have Astons test in his baby book, it's one of the old flat ones the docs used to do, still got the lines! That was around October 2003

Thanks for answering that - I wondered if the staff had to go and find a pregnant woman to get a sample from to make the positive test! :rotfl:

Edit - looks like you can buy fake positive tests on eBay, but no digital ones. Might be a more hygenic way of getting a positive test in the scrap book!
That is just so wrong!
