Today I am 9/1 did I mention how great it is being able to get excited about this pregnancy?! The past 4 weeks have been a nightmare but now I just want to tell everyone!!
OK, car seats... I will have a look at the maxi-cosi one again
Now, am I right that you have bloods taken at 8-10 weeks?? Just called the surgery for my first visit with the midwife and nothing available till the 26th Febuary! My booking in visit will be before that. How will they fit me in once a fortnight? Anyway, I have to call back on Thursday at 1.45pm and speak to the mw, otherwise it will a trip upto the hospital. Which I may as well get used to doing anyway.
Oh, the angelcare doppler, I'm not needing it for now, but for later on. It's later on that I will get problems with my BP so being able to check stardusts heart rate will be a comfort. I have spent enough time on the hospital moniters to know that it drops, goes away, speeds up etc but I just need to feel that I can do something. I am expecting to be a proper needy mum to be0 -

Caz - Charlie was just the cutest little mite wasn't he (and still is I'm sure) but yes...he does look massive!
Hiccups - there will be no doubting them if your baby gets them - think persistant 'flicking' (good description Krystal) for 30, 40, 50 mins at a time  At least when he is out ladybird I can laugh at his hiccups and try to help him rather than having to try to move me and/or him to see if they will stop!
My bump has got even lowerand my SPD is really playing up. Seeing the midwife tomorrow but I think he is definitely engaged. Might need to rethink my maternity leave plans...
that is what it felt like for me (hiccups) but i must say it was only for a few minutes.0 -
Tiami - I am so happy for you. That is fab news!
Re bloods. I had mine taken at my booking in appointment, which was a 10 weeks. Maybe they will do yours then0 -
I think all midwives are secretly vampires, they are always taking blood!
Well I finally managed to sign up to our local GP, I moved house in November and need to swap to a more local Surgery, and midwife. So I had my health check and.... I have lost 13lbs!! My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Tiamai - the 8-10 wk bllod are often called "booking bloods" as they tend to be done at your booking in app although some pcts do them after your 12wks scan (as in straight after on the same day) I'm thinking you will need to book your MW apps in blocks of about 4-6 apps at a time, thats what I did for the end of my last preg I booked all my apps as far as they would let me
(my old surgery had a paper diary for the MWs that was printed off sheets IYKWIM)
Ps. I spotted the big prescription sized bottle of gaviscon in asda and its just under £8 soo glad its free coz last time I'd gone through 4 and a bit bottles!0 -
dense question....
Can you use a carry cot as a moses basket for the first few weeks???
I can get a carrycot for my twister xts for £80 and as I am expecting this baby to be early and small, I'd prefere it to be lying flat, plus I was going to buy a moses basket anyway but if a carrycot is the same.... then I may as well get that instead! It looks sturdier than a moses basket too.
re:heartburn. I got it from about 30ish weeks with both but instead of gaviscon I was give one tiny tablet a day, but I was in hospital at the time so no idea what it was only that it worked like magic! Did get a bottle of gaviscon but bleurgh I think it's made from toad mucus!0
