also worth noting if your passing is that both my local asda's tend to get the stuff on the shelves (at the reduced price) a day or to before hand, as i say if ur passing pop in just in case but don't make a special trip coz urs might not be as organised :D

I'm excited about it now coz there are a couple of things I'm gonna get,
Elle I bow down to your efforts :T

Don't forget to find out if your local council provides a free impartial carseat advice service (Surely mine can't be the only one  they are rubbish at pretty much everything else!)

edit: oh and on a side note I've just found out that FIL's contract won't be renewed in march - not a big surprise as he's contracting at Halifax HQ but I'm not sure how he'll go finding work in the banking/finance sector :\

  • Oh, I love the Tesco & Asda Baby Events! Elle, you are far too organised! I simply posted the link to the HUKD thread :o:rotfl:. May also be worth noting that after the last Asda event, they sold off alot of the items at a reduced price . No ideal if you want something specific but worth a look :D.

Hope all ladies and bumps are well! :A

For organised, read impatient ;) I just wanted to know the specifics so though I might as well copy and paste the links for everyone while I was nebbing at other sites :)

    What is everyone wanting?

I'm after the TT CTN steriliser and pump and nappy wrapper (they stopped doing the voucher in the hospital Bounty pack, didn't they?). Also like the playgym - it's a lot paler on the leaflet than it is in the link.

Strange how I can buy this stuff, but can't bring myself to look at clothes or buy nappies!

I already have the pump n steriliser but I might get a new steriliser coz I broke ours a few months ago  silly me
My Mummy will be getting the bed rails coz we're gonna try to get chris used to the bed at hers coz she's hopefully taking him away in their caravan in the summer where he'll need to sleep in a little bunk bed (I hope he sees it as a fun adventure with grandma and granddad and not mummy n daddy kicking him out now they have a new baby!)
I'll be getting the roll along thing and some nappies for chris, baby powder and fabric softener and maybe a winnie the pooh toy if they have the same ones they had last time

Interesting I had this conversation with a neighbour last night about her grandson - he is very introvert so it's not ADHD but it is a behavioural issue as he purposely acts like a mentally "!!!!!!" child the second he thinks someone is "assessing" him... and he's younger than 5 :)
As she said she'd recommended that her daughter allow them to assess and keep an eye on him because ultimately it will mean more 1 to 1 for him which is good and if there is any aspect of his teaching plan she doesn't agree with then she can and she will always have the last say on any other "treatment" like drugs (which they too are totally against like you :) ) - just because he has ADHD doesn't mean that he's remedial or slower than other kids - just means he might need some help with diet and some more 1 to 1 in lessons to keep him interested - which will be good for both him AND the other children in his group :)
Thanks for that, after doing a bit of reading online i've discovered that this age is about right for it to be diagnosed, symptoms are displayed before aged 7, and usually after aged 3 apparently.
My son is not slow or remidial at all, he's actually a very clever boy, with an amazing memory, which has been pointed out by his teacher, SALT and the man who saw him yesterday, the man yesterday just said that he wants to get on top of it now so his schooling does not suffer, which I can fully understand, I know he does spend alot of time in 'time out' compared to other children, and he's so fidgety and quite disruptive so he probably misses bits of his learning already.
I knwo it's not a defiante diagnosis, and hold out hope that it's not, but at least if he is, like you say he'll get the hel he needs, i'm just grateful that the school have jumped on this so soon.

AM - re Aston's appt yesterday, i do remember when i was back home (Oz) there was a lot of noise at one stage about ADHD being managed with diet (i think eliminating E numbers and preservatives etc). may be a need to spend some time on goggle, especially (and i completely agree) to avoid medication if necessary.
