  • Those are normal Irish names !!! and I love Rosin, but the ones my MIL is suggesting are very unusual !!!!! And unless I was to spell it out every time to anyone who ever asked, they would never be able to do it !!!

An example is the Irish Davog for David !!!!

My MIL keeps suggesting all the Irish catholic names as that is what my OH's family all are !!! But none of my family like any of them as we are all ''normal'' names that everyone can spell !!!

That sounds awful doesnt it ?????????
I don't think its does ;) I like irish catholic names but wouldn't use them myself because i have trouble remembering how to spell them and we are both from not strict but still religious families neither of which are catholic.
i have a friend from NI who loves the names but can't use them coz she's protestant so it would cause soo much trouble if she did  as I'm always saying - why can't we all just get along?!

Sadly Candice don't know any plumbers like that :( DH has just resealed the whole shower again - in case. Tomorrow we'll test it again and see what happens... We poured over a bucket of water down the drain to see if it was leaking but no sign of it so we'll see...
As for maternity leave... I'm luckier than most - yes 90% for 6 weeks then 50% for another few weeks - I forget how many (must re-read contract again) and then on to statutory... ouchie... I can't see us affording having me on maternity leave that long though so we'll see...
The semi good news is that I spoke to my boss today and discussed the "work" days you're allowed when you're on maternity leave - these should help a little - and they would definitely like me to do probably a day or two a month through out as I am the one who built the reporting we use for our biggest client and no-one else has bothered to learn to do it :)

I also have a second method of income I can fall back on which is helpful, but I'd prefer not to if I can just spend the time with Roo when she arrives rather than work so hence trying to scrape together as much cash as I can now...

MrsT, you mean KIT, Keeping In Touch, Days. There are no definative rules on how these are paid so get it discussed and in writing before you do it. Say your daily rate is £150, they could either just make up your SMP to £150 for that week (£123.06 SMP + £26.94 KIT day pay = £150) or pay you the KIT day pay on top (£123.06 + £150 = £273.06). Or then again, they might not pay you at alll! It was a very confusing issue when we had someone on mat leave last year, first one since KIT days came in.

ETA: I may end up doing one KIT day a month to do the payroll input and run psychometric testing sessions as I'm the only one properly trained to do them! My pay issue is a bit different (to yours and the case we had last year) as my daily rate is less than £123.06.
  • I'm protestant too but as I say my OHs family are catholic. Thats why my family are a bit funny about the names !!!!

Re KIT days, I'm really luck, I get 10 weeks full pay and then SMP but am allowed 10 KIT days on full pay to be taken in the 2 months previous to me coming back.:j:j
(At least my employer does something right !!!)

Interesting... Didn't know that so will definitely be walking in pre-armed! ;)

My Net is just over £99 daily so definitely something to bear in mind and don't worry I'll be getting it in writing too! :)

    Thanks!

I think it'd be your gross daily that they would work on, as you would normally just pay a salary adjustment of £x gross and then let the payroll system work out the net. That's the way our system works, anyway :)

finally come back ladies to let you know about my MW appt.

MW thinks bubs head is down so that was a good start as i was worried it was bub's feet i could feel when i was getting movement down low.

there are still keatones in my sample so i need to keep trying to eat and drink more. i think i drink enough, okay it may not all be water, but i would have thought i was okay there. appreciate i may not be eating much, but sometimes i feel i could eat loads and then other times not fussed at all.

the pins and needles in my hands she is is most likely carpel tunnell syndrome (thanks AM). will keep an eye on it as i normally suffer with RSI but it has been fine for a the whole of my pregnancy.

need to phone doc for prescription for gaviscon re heartburn.

do not have to see MW at 34 weeks as i am having scan and consultant appt. also have to have final set of bloods done.

will see MW again when i am 36 weeks. will then talk birth plan as i would have done the antenatal class and hopefully formed some ideas of what i want/don't want.

bub's heartbeat was fine which as we all know is lovely to hear.

i am also measuring 32cm so that is bang on for my weeks.

hmmm...think that was it...........oh BP was fine
