thanks sami!! wasnt too sure what normal level was and TBH it explains why i have been feeling so tired?? have never heard of spatone but might nip to chemist and see??

as for butcher no need for game my OH family all go shooting for a local gamekeeper and i have venison etc etc in the freezer!! we did get a laugh at xmas when he came in saying he had a rabbit in the car and i told him there was no room in the freezer, but he meant a pet rabbit for the kids:O
:rotfl:My dad shoots and can't wait for Chris to be old enough! When my mum was preg with my sis they lived in a rough bit of liverpool and the MW said she'd never seen a pg woman with such a good iron level, she had to put it down to all the rabbit, pheasant etc she was eating :D
If you can manage it spa tone is best drank mixed with orange juice, but I couldn't drink OJ past about 25wks last time - it was like drinking pure acid

Krystal - I'm allergic to persil :o my extravagance is fairy fab conditioner - it smells lush! I think even if I was mega rich like bill gates I'd still be buying own brand loo roll, just I'd be emptying my trolly into a Ferrari instead of a citroen! ooh have you checked out the 8p per 300ml coke from martain's mail out? I ordered some last night :D don't get too much if you do coz delivery goes on weight, I got a joint order with MIL so we could split the delivery cost

sometimes we get so much game we have to give it away, i think we were sick of salmon the other month as we had so much! kids really love duck but it takes 2/3 to feed us all so am glad i dont have to buy it!

I know you can't possibly follow this advice but I'll say it anyway ;) try to stay calm.
It is very possible - there's a few of us here who have managed it (this is the 2nd time I've done it ) I 'knew' I was pregnant as soon as we'd "been intimate" both times so hopefully will be the same for you xx

I'll try but Im not promising anything :o
If I am (and I'm 95% sure I am- my boobs im sure have got bigger since I posted an hour or so ago!) It'll be my 3rd baby (I was an early starter. Prefer that label to the other one of teen pregnancy statistic:rolleyes: ) 1st baby was a surprise, obviously, 2nd, planned, but for the life of me I can't remember if my boobs were so sore so quick after we 'did the deed' !
I'm another one with large age gaps between babies- my two at this moment in time are 11 and 5 (almost 6) and if Ive just got pg again now they will be 11 (almost 12) and 6.5 when babe arrives!

ah ha!! "The normal amount - or concentration - of haemoglobin for adults is at least 13g/dl for men (13 grams of haemoglobin per decilitre of blood - a decilitre is 100ml) and 11.5g/dl for women. If your haemoglobin levels are lower than this, you have anaemia."
    from here: http://hcd2.bupa.co.uk/fact_sheets/html/anaemia_iron.html

and don't forget "t's a good idea to eat foods containing vitamin C at the same time as eating sources of iron because this helps with iron absorption. Good sources of vitamin C include peppers, fruit juice, sweet potatoes, oranges and kiwi fruit." from same page

Mine was 13.9 and the MW said I must eat a really healthy diet as it was really good ( ha ha didnt tell her about the McDonalds craving lately ) x

I tasted some before I added the OJ and it tastes like iron/blood _pale_
you can't taste a thing when its 50/50 with OJ or other fruit juice :T

It's basically a little sachet of liquid iron (or water with iron in it anyway) it doesn't really taste when diluted but you couldn't drink it on its own. Iron is better absorbed when taken with vitamin c (take note ladies - drink OJ when eating your spinach etc).

It doesn't have to be orange juice that you take them in - the instructions say anything except grape juice (if I remember rightly!)

Edit: have just read the sachet on my desk and it says that tea and milk inhibit iron absorption.

Sami, saw the email and will check it out... But it did say diet... and Hubby will drink nothing but full fat so I didn't rush off to check lol...

And milk is an inhibitor so much better to drink fruit juice with food than milk... Which always makes me chuckle when I see cereals 'fortified with Iron' and then you mix them with milk....
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
